fangirl stuff, mundane stuff. . .
May. 7th, 2004 07:22 pmI like the part in Books of Magic when Tim is talking to Leah about the whole blood thing. I guess it was after they found the mermaid, because Tim thought it wanted his blood, and Leah said she could tell it wasn't a blood creature, because she'd been one for a long time, and she'd be able to tell. And Tim hadn't known she'd eaten blood, so he kinda flipped out on her. And she explained that she hadn't eaten human blood in a long time, "and for a long time, it's just been doves, but then I couldn't eat those anymore. And then. . ." And Tim is all upset and says "And then???" And Leah responds, "Nothing. I'm just hungry all the time, that's all." Awww! I love Leah! Everyone should read Books of Magic: Girl in the Box. Oh wait! It's right behind me! I can look up the quotes! I'd brought it to school a little while ago. I love it so much I finally bought it for myself, even though they have it at the library. I've lost my copy of Bindings, though. And if you get Girl in the Box, you also have to get the other one with Leah, so you know what's going on. I think it's Summonings. . . but I'm not sure. But if you want to understand that, you have to get the ones before it. . . ;)
Here we go:
Tim: You? You drank blood?
Leah: Don't yell at me. Yeah, I drank blood. For a thousand years and then some. I'd cut down a lot by the time I met you. To just doves. And after that. . .
Tim, looking angry: After that--?
Leah: Nothing. I'm just hungry all the time, that's all.
Well, I got the last line right. Awww, it was meeting Tim that made her stop!! ::huggles:: Poor Leah. I adore Molly, but. . . I love Leah. And I'm all jealous of Molly, even though I really shouldn't be, cos she has a tough time of things. Not that Leah doesn't! Didn't. She's a succubus, but she's great, and she falls in love with Timmy. Usually I wouldn't like the skinny blond model best, but. . . so cool!
I'm still feeling sick--now it's kind of physically ill, though. Slight headache (took an aspirin) and a bit of a fever, I think! I definitely need sleep! It's really hot here, too. Well, warm. High 70s, and humid. Which is amazing. First time wearing shorts!!
But, I watched (and recorded) Hugh Jackman on Ellen, and
essene mentioned this video that
killerweasel made for
luvsbitch, and which can be found and saved to your computer here. That enough links for ya? ;) Oh, fuck, it's sexy. It's Wesley with guns. And aside from the big funky gun in the whole time-jump episode, and the brief clip in the credits, I've never ever seen Wesley with guns before. I was totally unprepared! Hadn't built up a resistance. And, oh, damn. So hot! Especially Man-Wes! I love Wesley!! Ouch!! (although it's really funny to watch his very first appearance on Buffy--I summarize: "Stick. Ass. Wesley."--and then watch that video! lol.)
So I'm feeling a bit better on the inside. :)
Also, got my portfolio out. Here's my day:
Periods 1-5: in art room. Did my portfolio, then helped others. Was signed out of my classes. Except for Gov, I wasn't doing anything in any of them, so it wasn't a problem. Gov, the AP is still to come, but she's an idiot bitch of a teacher so I wouldn't have gotten anything out of it anyway.
Gawd, it's hot. And I'm hot. Ugh. My hands are cold, though. . . (actually, now that it's starting to get dark, there's this extremely lovely summer evening feel, which is quite pleasant. still.)
Period 6: Physics. the teacher has a class that period but most of them were taking the US History AP, so there were only three kids (two of which are among my closest friends :D) so she got them set up with practice multiple choice and went over some rotational inertia and energy stuff with me, and angular momentum. Many formulas to memorize. I want a reference table on the multiple choice, dammit! Anyway, moments of inertia isn't quite as evil as it seems because they rarely use the "integral of r^2 times dm" formula--they used the pre-derived formulas for, say, rotation of a rod when the axis is at one end. Which I need to memorize. I think it's 1/3 ML^2. And then rotation of a rod when the axis (of rotation) is through the middle--along the rod. Which is 1/12 ML^2. Unless I have them reversed. A hollow cylinder is just ML^2? Ugh. Need to study!! They're all variations of that, though.
I also acquired 2 more books! The answer book for my textbook XD And another book that has a full Physics C AP and the answers. So now I have 5 books total. My textbook, those two books, and two workbooks. I don't think I have the conceptual physics book at home, I'm fairly certain we opted to leave those in school.
can you tell I'm nervous about this Physics AP? XD But the teacher told me today that no matter what happens, I worked really hard and did really well, and I told her that I'd really enjoyed doing the class (except for this last bit).
Anyway, after that I went to English seventh period, where we chatted. The teacher really likes Katie and my final project. :D We're going to do Literature Chibi Comics, like our European History Chibi Comics! Which I will upload and share with you at some point. We already have one for Crime and Punishment, and I came up with an idea for The Yellow Wallpaper today. Very silly!
And then I visited Katie in Bio briefly, at the beginning of period 8, but had a headache and went home. Where I kind of failed to nap. Sad.
there's a french word for daily, or day-to-day. . . I can't remember it. Mmm. . . quotidennial or something crazy like that.
Anyway, yeah. I just really wanted to share that Books of Magic quote with everyone. It popped into my head and I had the urge to share.
Oddly enough, the first time I met Leah was in the very last issue. . . well, not the last. Issue #50, which I call the last, because after that, John Ney Reiber left. Peter Gross took over the writing and Peter Snejbjerg kept drawing (well, I've only seen issue #54 after that) but I don't really count those as part of the series! And this new shit they've done, well. . . ::spits:: (it wasn't quite that bad, but compared to the original. . .) Anyway. John Ney Reiber actually wrapped up the series quite beautiful in issue 50, which I thought was cool. And I thought it was really awesome that he brought Leah back. I was happy to see that she was all right, and she was a good person to. . . do what she did to Tim, not to give anything away. I didn't have to do with his virginity. Tim is the biggest virgin ever, though. Especially in The Girl in the Box! XD Although that might have been not-Molly problems. Anyway. I felt that it gave Leah a significance that she deserved to bring her back. But damn, I was confused! I had no idea who she was! So that kind of helped to shape my opinion of her. Not that she's actually in the comic that much, but she's very important.
Ok. Shutting up now. Tell me if this needs a cut-tag, I'm not sure. The mad rambler strikes again!!
I got to bring home my mono-print of da munki today!! ::points to icon:: he's standing on a big pile of fruit in mine XD I'll scan it some time.
edit: while I'm being a geeky fangirl, I just wanted to add that Sam, Major Sam Carter, from Stargate SG-1? Seriously sexy. Wowza! Me and Katie love her. Lots. And lots. So sexy. Damn. Amanda Tapping rocks my socks. (so does Michael J. Fox. Cos, see? Michael J. Fox rox my sox!) And, not only is Sam unbelievably sexy (and wears big clumpy army boots, which I find really hot on women) she also is just soo cool, and so smart! Crazy smart! :D And like, just. . . cool. And hangs out with Teal'c, so, you know, awesome! And Jack, for added sexy, and Jonas, for added cuteness! :D wheeee!! Love Sam!
