Yes! I finally have the good mail in Diablo! Finally! Level 19 (in terms of stats, not dungeon level) and I'm still at phase two of the armor. Insane. In Diablo, the lower level armor--capes, quilted armor, etc, just looks like you're wearing an interesting cloth ensemble. Then you get the second level--I hate this level! I think because Arkaine's Valor is this level armor, and I hate that quest XD I always get it! So annoying. This armor has a helmet and a little chain mail skirt and a tunic, I think. And that's, like, ring mail, scale mail, apparently also splint mail, although that surprised me (splint mail looks awesome, by the way. very colorful. bizarre). Then you get the third level, which makes your character look like he's wearing a full suit of plate mail. Awesome! And your axe (I always play as the warrior and I always use an axe) is bloody. Very cool. Anyway, I play characters for a long time--I go as low in the dungeon as I feel like and then start over at the top with the same character in a new game. And I should definitely have gotten some better armor by now. ::sigh:: I miss my other character, who got lost when we switched computers. She had all the best loot. Actually, what is probably the best axe ever! XD Although it was a Battle Axe, not a Great Axe. Great Axes have skulls on them and stuff.

I've taken to playing until I get a level up, which takes longer and longer--after a bit, you stop getting any experience points at all for lower level demons. Until level 5, now, I think. So I actually ended up on level 9! Even though before I'd only gone to level 7. I had pretty easy lower levels, though. Well, I think 7 was hard. The Stone Clan Goat Demons and Mud Men were giving me problems, and the Familiars didn't help. Level 8 had only Acid Beasts and Poison spitters. Usually my least favorite demons, but not so bad when they're the only thing there, actually. So that was fine. And level 9, for some reason, was actually really fun and easy. Mud Runners, who are Horned Demons--good and bad. Not too hard to take out, but do the charging thing. I hate the charging thing. Actually, I was very nervous going down to level 9, and I was greeted by a unique Mud Runner, Breakspine the Cruel (I love the names of the unique demons) and his whole horde. Scary. But I did it! Without dying ;) (often I die once on the lower levels when I meet uniques, then I go back and do it again). And the only other demon type on the level was Magma Demons! And they are sooo cute! They have a range attack, but they tend not to use it (same with Acid Beasts--the lower levels tend not to use their range attacks so much.) (well, except archers) and they're cute and they make a cool noise and explode into lava when you kill them. Actually, it was kinda funny. A Mud Runner tried to charge me, but I was surrounded by so many Magma Demons, it couldn't get through! But it really was a very easy level--I think I only used, like, 4 or 5 healing potions the whole time. Which is a lot less than I used on level 7. ::winces::

actually, it was lots of fun--I got to do two quests that I rarely get to do. Zhar the Mad, on level 8, which was tricky. And The Black Mushroom, on level 9, which was not. XD I was a little nervous about Zhar, but I got really lucky. He teleports and lobs fireballs at you, but I'd cast a Guardian Spell, which pops up and fires fireballs at your enemies from three snake heads. So it was still firing, so I could see where Zhar was going to appear and then follow him there. And I managed to get him trapped in the corner between me and his bookcase! So he'd try to teleport, be trapped, and have to materialize briefly, and I'd just hack at him. Very cool. And the Black Mushroom is, of course, my absolute favorite quest, due to the presence of lines such as "That's one big mushroom", and the demon brain. Actually, I got to witness the deterioration of the Diablo character's intelligence today! You enter level one, and he says "The sanctity of this place has been fouled". You enter level 5, the beginning of the catacombs, and he says "The smell of death surrounds me". Then, you enter level 9. This is the beginning to the "caves". I thought it was the hell levels cos there's all lava, but hell is actually a little farther down XD It's the one with the big horn things on all the walls. Very creepy, I've never been down there--just watched Mike. Waaaay beyond me. So I don't know what he says when you enter the hell levels, but when you enter the caves he says. . . "It's hot down here". And then you do the Black Mushroom quest and he says "That's a big mushroom". Thus, me and Katie have come to the conclusion that he gets dumber the farther down you go.

In other news, I had an awesome time and the Old Bethpage evening opening today--my first one as a volunteer. I was an excellent bar wench, except for two horrible incidents. More detail tomorrow. I still had a good time, and drank a lot of hot cider and got insanely sticky.

what alphonse mucha icon goes with talk about Diablo? XD
