Här kommer Pippi Långstrump
Nov. 15th, 2003 08:10 pmI am Pippi Longstocking--
If you say it fast it's funny.
Pippi, Pippi Longstocking,
How I love my funny name!
I am only nine years old,
I always live alone,
Inside my poppa's house,
Until he comes back home
from far across the sea.
I have special friends of course,
A monkey and a horse,
They share in my adventures too.
Best song ever. I want a theme song, too. Sometimes she also says "here comes Pippi Longstocking--hope shah-nay an' a hope-shah nah!" XD In case you haven't guessed I just finished watching one of the original Swedish Pippi Longstocking movies. Hilariously dubbed in English. It's so cool, because I reread the book recently, and that reminded me of how much I loved those movies. And I asked mom to look for them, and she said they weren't at the library anymore. But sometime a week or two ago, she came home with "Pippi in the South Seas", which was just too funny. They went to rescue Pippi's poppa from pirates. . . other pirates, actually. First they were flying around on Pippi's bed-turned-zeppelin. But one morning they woke up, and the bed wasn't moving! Then they looked up--and the balloon was gone! XD It turns out they'd landed on a mountain. So they continued their journey on foot, until they found a scrap-heap. There was a plane there, and it was all fallen apart, but the propellor was still good. And Pippi found a bicycle, the gears and chain and pedals from which became the engine, and Tommy found some old crates and boards. "Good! Those can be the fusilage!" XD So they built a plane, and pedaled it to an island, where they stopped and eventually stole a pirate ship. Their trip to the island took them through a volcano, which they couldn't go around because the levers that they were inexplicably using to steer had jammed. But luckily the entirely wooden fusilage didn't catch on fire XD Anyway, they found Pippi's poppa and got him food. . . I just wanted to share all that about the bed and the plane because it kills me.
And today, we watched Pippi Goes on Board! Which contains a great deal from what I thought was the first Pippi movie, but between those two movies, I think we've covered all my Pippi memories--they may be the only one's I've seen! hehehe. It was funny, we kept saying "oh, that's from the first movie" and then it would show up. XD Like when Pippi makes cookies, and she makes them all over her floor because she makes soooo many. It's awesome! Me and Katie remembered that. . . And her Christmas celebration, which rocks. And when she drew her horse all over the blackboard because it was too big. And when they found the mayor. They were playing Treasure Seekers, and anything you find you can take home. So Pippi finds the mayor, and she wants to take him home and lock him up like a rabbit and feed him rabbit food. Eventually Annika protests, not having the stomach for all this (rabbit food). But Pippi does practice by feeding him a dandelion leaf. So many awesome things. That movie is so fucking awesome.
And the dubbage! XD It does not match in any way, of course. Plus, well. . . Annika. Annika is an adorable girl, and I love watching her eat (kind of an inside joke with me and Katie--i've been acting like a perv with Annika and the eating. But in reality I just think all the food they eat in these movies looks soooo good. . . no matter what it is. Awesome.) but her voice is just insane. It's high and whiny and kind of Brooklyn-ish, and she tends to be saying, well, in Pippi and the South Seas she says "Mama wouldn't like this" a lot. She's a bit of a wet hen. But sooo funny! Every time Annika says something we all just fall over laughing. It's waaaaaaay too funny. And Mr. Nilsson! He's the monkey! And so cute! Quite possibly homosexual. . . he's very fond of wearing fruity pink sweaters.
Best movies ever. You all must see them. I plan on showing them to everyone I know.
Sweden rocks, too. I mean, it's probably cooler when Pippi's there, but they get to go fishing, and there are all sorts of streams, and they find an old canoe and go camping on an island. Plus, not only is all the food awesome, all the furniture and the buildings are so cute! And their clothes! Ahhh! :D I want. Annika's got this great hat (I'm not so fond of Tommy. . . he's not as funny as Annika).
In other news, I've had a great day. I am continuing my Stargate SG-1 obsession. . . now I'm trying desperately to find Amanda Tapping interviews. i've got some Richard Dean Anderson interviews from here, and I've actually managed to find Amanda interviews at several foreign sites, but, while RDA is awesome and I can never have too much of him. . . I must see MacGyver now!! I also need more Amanda. Because she rocks my fucking socks!! I love her! And Sam. :D It's so much fun loving all the characters.
I'm also reading some new Horatio Hornblower slash. . . I was so lucky with my first fandom, Gundam Wing. There's just a never-ending supply of GW slash. My fandoms since have been considerably more difficult. I always start with things with plenty of sites, don't I? I've been to every single CATS website that was in existence a few years ago. XD And that was the very first fandom--it's why I'm here now. First thing I ever went onto the internet for. I remember Powder's Jellicle CATS Page (now here, but the other one is what it looked like when I first went there. . . with actual content, of course) was the very first non-search engine website I went to. I just picked it randomly out of some Yahoo results. And it's a great site. And still there! XD Awesome. (there's a girl at work who says "awesome" a lot. . . i think I picked it up from her. very strange)
Also making today rock, was a fantastic nap. It felt like a slept about twice as long as I did, which means I feel good and rested, but also didn't miss out on most of the day! :D It was great. I was ever-so-slightly awake at some points, so that means I kind of remember and get the good feeling from my dreams more, without having to actually come up with fantasies. It's so cool! ^_^
In case you couldn't tell, I did no work today. But I don't have that much homework. And I'm going to Bethpage tomorrow. Wheee! Missed it last week. :(
!!! I need to choose five more icons to upload! Maybe I'll add some non-Alphonse Mucha ones. . . maybe not.

Date: 2003-11-15 08:10 pm (UTC)Anyway. . . :D I think I actually have been Pippi for Halloween XD The girl who plays her (who's last name is actually Nilsson! She might be related to Mr. Nilsson!) is so cute! And Annika is cute. . . it's just Tommy who is funny looking. lol. No, he's not that bad. It's just. . . he has so much less character than the other two--Pippi is awesome, and Annika is a wuss, and Tommy is boy-who-wants-to-be-like-Pippi-but-can't-obviously. >.>

Date: 2003-11-15 08:41 pm (UTC)I'm sure there's an Amanda Tapping fanlisting too...but as TFL is down I have to hunt for that also.
Don't they all just ROCK? Jack is so my favorite, I love him muchly. Any ideas for a title for a fansite about him?
Have you seen any Thor yet?
Haha!
Amanda Tapping: http://amanda.hell-yes.net/
Sam: http://carter.periapsis.net/
Once you're done with that go http://users.skynet.be/amandas_diary/contest/musicvideos/index.html <- there and download the video "Not Just a Pretty Face"
It's my FAVORITE AMV right now.

Date: 2003-11-16 01:56 pm (UTC)Jack is soooo cool. I didn't love the show until I saw Abyss, with lots of Jack! I don't know about a fansite title, though. . .
I haven't seen any Thor in the actual series, but the first time I saw him in a vid I shouted "THOR!" XD You're a bad influence.
ooooh. . . there are so many more fanlistings that I must join now. . .
::gasps:: The video rocks :D She's so cool! The song fits so well! Wheeeeee!
