I haven't written in a bit because real life has gotten in the way. Well, I say real life. I actually mean my wonderful discovery of the coolness that is Stargate SG-1 music vids. XD Awesome. I am having such a good time with them. The funny thing about Stargate SG-1, and this is very strange for me, is that I think all of the characters totally rock! :D It's awesome--I'm just in conniptions no matter who's on the screen.
Anyway, that's what I've been doing with, oh, all of my free time. So ::winces:: I haven't logged on to LJ in. . . at least 36 hours.
In other news, Quizbowl today. Oh dear. We actually ended up having a good time, even though we lost XD but at first there were only 4 people, and we should have 8. So we were really upset. We ended up with 6, which is 3 on each team. I was the JV captain! With two people who were playing for the first time. It was fun, though. I got to answer a question on the Peace of Westphalia! HELL YEAH! And I answered my Second Umbra Quizbowl Question. Strangely enough, we've had a question on the umbra before, that I also answered. XD Thank you, Legion of Super-heroes! I was so glad I was on JV. Varsity sucks. I hope I can stay on JV! >.> I loves JV. And Tara and Stephanie were great fun.
A guy who I usually hate, but we have a kind of cease-fire arranged for Academons, is, amusingly, learing how to become a cheerleader. So he taught the JV team the cheer, which we used very much during the varsity round. . . they needed cheering up. Poor Katie! Being Captain of varsity is not fun.
Before we got our sixth person I had to go in and kick some butt. It was funny. I had to get her out of rehearsal, and the director was in "I'm a little bitch mode" (i think he's been in it a lot lately, but in his defense he is choreographer-less) and I managed to out-bitch him. Kinda. lol. I was sooooo mad, though. Cos no one showed up, and fucking Friedman was fucking blaming us. I hate him. ::sigh:: Anyway, I bitched him out too ;) Well, I yelled at him. It was kind of funny, except that he doesn't like us to begin with so I try to be patient to keep the peace, but he was being so obnoxious and just rotten. . . as always. . . and I was already pissed from no one showing up that I just had to tell him off. So it was major ass-kicking for Laura.
But yeah, Quizbowl was actually fun. There was a very cute girl who was the captain of the other team. . .
And I got my college applications in! ROCKING! I need to shoot some stuff for my portfolio, which I'm probably going to be doing next monday. And I discussed my concentration topic for the art AP with the teacher. . . what I have now is strong women in mythology, exploring their feminine vs. masculine sides, as well as their, well, strength, and heroism, through stories, possibly exploring the art nouveau style. The last two are shaky. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to be doing this, or what medium or anything. I need twelve pictures. The teacher leant me a big mythology book. Cos I need to find a common trait, to tie them together. All I know is I don't want goddesses of love. Artemis, Athena. . . Kali? I need to explore. The book has norse, greek, and celtic. It's kind of art-based, so I'm definitely going to be needing to find more mythology books. It's funny because last year for english we could just choose any research paper topic, and as I was talking this topic over with my art teacher I realized that I did something very similar for the research paper. XD Definitely need to shift into art mode. I just want to draw sexy women, really. I keep getting images of all the beautiful women that Alphonse Mucha draws (see icons) ;)
physics c is beginning to get tricky. I even called up my cousin the physics teacher, and he was having problems. but I called him very late at night, and he has his parent-teacher conferences tomorrow. We'll see. I'm just nervous, because this is the first new thing, that we didn't do in physics b and stuff. and I can't get it! Argh. In my defense, I think my book did a crap-ass job explaining it. And usually most of the teaching is in the examples, but they only had one example, and it definitely did not help with horizontal motion, and it definitely did not tell me what to do with time, and it definitely did not tell me how the hell I use the tangential acceleration equals the derivative of the magnitude of the velocity in terms of time equation.
am reading friends list now. will just send this.

Date: 2003-11-13 03:49 am (UTC)lol! It was soooo funny. And it was the best when he was teaching it to us, because we weren't getting it, and he was like, yelling at us. . . it was a riot. And we were so bad! And first we all kept doing everything backwards--like, with the opposite arms. This is what happens when you try to teach nerds to cheer! Actually, Tara got quite good at it!

Date: 2003-11-12 10:37 pm (UTC)Your art project sounds interesting. My mother used to do a lot of costuming and she did several costumes of beautiful goddesses. If you want, I can scan the pictures in and email them to you. They were awesome and maybe you can base some of your art off them. That would be cool.
Anyway, also on the mythology topic, back in highschool I once typed into my computer an entire encyclopedia of mythology (I was really really bored that year -- I also typed in an entire dictionary of demonology). Do you want me to email you the file?
My mother is an anthropologist, so she is very interested in mythology. We have TONs of rare references to cool goddesses. In fact, she named me after a few goddesses. Like, if you choose a goddess (or a few) to do, I can see what else I can find. I mean, really, my mum has some really rare and OLD references that you won't find in most general books about mythology. Edith Hamilton left out a lot, yo. I can type some stuff (or maybe scan) in for you. ^_^
Gee, now I'm all excited about YOUR project!!! HAHAHAHA.

Date: 2003-11-13 03:56 am (UTC)holy crap! XD Through that you can get to any of the other sites that I went to. It doesn't quite have every single vid, because I know a couple of the sites have updated more recently than that one, but i think it will probably take you to every one. XD
But if you're desperate for vids right away, here are the main sites I've used thus far:
http://laurajo.nstemp.net/sg1/videos/sg1dance.htm
http://suzvoy.freeservers.com/musicvids.html
http://www.stargatesg1971.com/jackvids.html
Oh my god, I would love anything that you could send me! That totally rocks! :D I am definitely in need of information. . . and clothing would be a big problem for me, I'm fairly sure. Plus, they sound cool and I want to see pictures ;) And an encyclopedia? You are so awesome! Thank you! Wowza.
Ugh, I remember reading Edith Hamilton. XD Maybe I just didn't like it because it was the year of the demon english teacher (she may not be in your encyclopedia yet. . .).
I'll definitely tell you when I figure out who I'm going to be doing. And if you have any recommendations? :D
Thank you so much, that is so cool!

Personally, I like Inanna. She's a cool goddess. The various incarnations of Tara are fun, too. ~_^
I will email you a list of other really nifty goddess, okay?
