Today has rocked some serious ass. First, our math test only had one demon question, and was so short I could actually check my answers! Holy crap! (that reminds me, yesterday I wrote a very. . . interesting. . . peer recommendation for Perin. She liked it though! She was so touched she was crying. . . or maybe those were tears of laughter. >.>) Then we got lollipops in gov (and I handed in the extra credit that I got to write about Mr. Smith Goes to Washington! An actual school-related reason to watch one of my favorite movies.) and M&M's in art (and I handed in the art review assignment we had to do, mine was on Turner's painting of Köln, which was done with help from
floria_del_guiz and included several random facts. XD). Then, in English--haha!! All my hard work paid off! And what! Even though I had to watch Mr. Smith and write the art review and two pages on the movie and everything, I finished reading the full 100 pages--a third of the book--that I had left yesterday. 50 before dinner, and 50 after. I am so proud. And I actually liked it, which is just amazing. I think it's my favorite book of all the ones we've read in school. Ooops. The book is All the Pretty Horses, by Cormac McCarthy. Usually, the three main things that suck about school books (the "classics") are that they're boring, they're depressing, and all the characters are unsympathetic at best, and a fucking pain in the ass at worst. All the Pretty Horses is very interesting, actually not depressing, although it has rough patches, and has great characters. At least one. XD
Actually, there were a couple phases. At the beginning it was strange and confusing, and then it got really cool, and then things got really bad, and then they were exciting but stressful and a little strange. Anyway, I really liked it. And our teacher really likes it! It was cool. Cos I was, I think, the only person in the class who'd finished (actually, I think there was another guy, but he didn't say anything), so she asked me if I liked it, and I really did, and I was surprised about that, and I was happy to be able to tell the class that I liked it. She says that a lot of the students don't. The problem is, there are no quotation marks, or apostrophes and stuff. It's difficult. But it's good. And John Grady=sexy manflesh. XD
So anyway, she talked for a little, but usually she starts at the end, so she had to let everyone read, and then she talked to a couple other students, and one of the students was confused with the quote she told us, which was about John Grady confronting the evil both in the world and himself, and coming close to destruction. So they talked about it, but then she called me over to explain it to the girl, and I was able to check in with her, because i wasn't sure she'd agree with me--because one of the reasons I like about the book is that he does confront the evil that is inescapable, and makes his peace with it. Anyway, she agrees. w00t! And then I explained to the girl, who was about 20 pages and one major event away from the end, what the quote meant, and we talked about the book and it was loads of fun. And then the teacher gave us sheets for the little project we're going to do on the book, so we could get blue ones before they ran out, and she said that she'd put us in a group together and we could choose our topic. But I'm not going to be in that class on Monday, because we're talking a top ten picture. Hopefully I won't miss much--it shouldn't take all period.
Oh, and yesterday I met with my english teacher about my college essay, and she gave me a couple grammar and wording tips, and said it was excellent. :D whew!
And after school we ended up having loads of people come to Academons! And they say they're going to come back. YAY! :D It was great fun--cos evil demon advisor was on a field trip, plus, we had buzzers.
So life is good. And, inexplicably, I've been really lazy with commenting on livejournal. So i'm sorry. I'm not sure why--I've been reading it, but I'm not commenting. Just so you know.
We're going to go to Perin's house today and watching Finding Nemo! :D And I'm taping the special Finding Nemo episode of the Ellen Degeneres Show.
