I am now braceless!! Yay! I have to go and get my retainer in about two hours. It feels a little strange, but good. . . I really hated the way the braces felt. :D :D :D

Now I just have to make sure I wear my retainer regularly. I do not want to have braces again. That first week was just murder.

Last knight we finished Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned. Very strange and trippy ending. Well, not trippy so much as. . . it was kind of like something written by Neil Gaiman, except not quite as good. lol. Actually, I must admit, i'm harsh on Gabe 3 because it's so ugly! O_O And the other two were so pretty. But Gabe 3 was a fascinating, fun, and even educational game. Because we did all sorts of research, it was cool. And it had some great puzzles. :D

Anyway. Oh, hey. Someone on a soap opera just made a The Thin Man joke! Whoa! lol. Anyway. . . as I started to say. . . the next games on our list are Grim Fandango, King's Quest 6, and then Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers again, because that one's my favorite. And Katie's, i believe. . . David likes Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within, which was also an excellent game. . . but I really want to play Gabe 1 again :D I don't know though--we'll need to work fast! We watched the Grim Fandango opening scene last night. it's made by Lucasarts, who also did the monkey island game--it's so much fun to be back to Lucasarts! :)

So after that, we got locked out of our house. DX ugh. It was my fault, i was stupid. We stayed at David's til 11 when our parents got home and picked us up. While we were waiting, we finished watching the Six Wives of Hentry VIII. It was excellent. My favorites are Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, and Katherine Parr. Yes, she spells her name with a K. I think. lol. Anyway, that's how Katie spells it. ^_^ Of course, I know that this sort of thing is biased, but that's my verdict based on the show. I admire Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon, and feel bad for. . . well, for all of them, actually.

I'm going to clean the family room, and maybe eat. Then we must go back to get retainer.

I kept licking my teeth so much...

I still occasionally feel phantom brace conductance when I eat ice cream. Though not as much as I used to.

Congratulations on the braces-off!

You know, *some* people might think it weird to be able to ranks Henry VIII's wives in order of preference... your entries make me so happy...

'ang on!?!? I definitely don't remember you talking about getting braces off... But that might not mean anything- you know how my memory works. I really don't have one.

That's awesome tho! Today was supposed to be retainer day for me and my friend Amanda at work, since she just got her braces taken off yesterday. But her group went horseback riding, and I had to leave work early (see my most recent entry for details), so I guess it will have to be tomorrow.

Do you get invisible retainers like Perin? Or will you be getting colored ones?

Yay, congrats! I remember when I got mine off, my teeth felt naked. Kinda like when you're missing a tooth, and you feel the gap - only it was my whole mouth!

Enjoy. *grin*

oh, definitely same here. I can't keep my tongue off my teeth. Although, to be honest, i ran my tongue over my teeth even when I had the braces XD

The one thing I actually found the braces useful for was scratching my fingers--very sharp. And I did actually try that today, before I got my retainer. >.

lol. This is what happens when you're a European History freak. lol. The wives were very oddly cast though. Anne of Cleves, who is supposed to have a face like a horse, was (in my opinion) much prettier than Catherine Howard, who was 19 and supposedly really pretty and all. But the actress playing Catherine Howard did not look 19!

Anyway, me and Katie are currently working on a European History comic strip :D So we'll address all the wives individually, I think. We're definitely doing one about the fact that there were so many of them!

I think it's funny that usually women are known, in history, for being married to someone, but Henry is known for his wives, rather than what he did. His wives and his daughter! :D ::smug smug smug::

Holy cow, I never thought of it that way...

That's amazing! Henry VIII, proto-Ken...

no, I haven't said anything just in case it turned out I was going to end up having them for another 6 weeks or something. >.<

I got invisi-retainers, like Perin and Katie. They're a little funky, but apparently they work!

lol--yeah, and it doesn't help that my gums are all inflamed and what-not. So not only are my teeth nekkid, my gums feel funky. And the retainer is just strange. I can't get my mouth closed! Agh! lol. But I have less of a lisp than Katie did (she's disappointed--she'd been waiting to make fun of me. >D)

Congrats on being brace-free. I've never done it and never will because I don't want to go through that hell. I did the upper and bottom retainer thing for a few months but I lost them. I'll stick to my English heritage from now on, thank you. ;)

Grim Fandango is fun but crazy. I just loved the music for the game, especially the Mani & Meche tango. Best played drinking sangria & munching on tacqitos. :)

My favourite 3D/2D (3D characters navigating 2D environments)adventure game though was The Longest Journey. It had just more environments, the puzzles were more intuitive and more variety in general. I don't know if you have played it yet but I recommend it.
Is Gabriel Knight strictly adventure?

Now that it's over I guess I can say it's worth it, but really. . . don't worry. lol. It's definitely vastly unpleasant, not to mention expensive. Nothing wrong with crooked teeth! (the retainer is making my mouth ache, too!)

lol. . . we're all underage, but I'll see what I can do on the taquitos.

I have not played The Longest Journey, but it sounds good. If it's a mac game (or mac available), i can get it for myself. . . if not, i have to rely on David.

And I'm not entirely sure about video game classifications, so I'm going to refer your question to him.

YEAY!

Exactly! I love the way my mouth feels, and the way it looks! And now I don't have to worry about getting the inside of my mouth snagged on the braces, cos that hurts! And I like being able to close my mouth without worrying about closing it over the braces and what-not.

I am now at David's house and am consulting him. He does indeed have the Longest Journey, so we're bound to get around to that at some point :)

And he says that Gabriel Knight is indeed pure adventure.

Cewl!!! I'll look into getting the Gabriel series before it is totally unavailable...let's see that makes three games that I haven't played yet (have The Messenger & the third sequel to the Discworld series). And I haven't even bought Siberia yet.

So many games, so little time before Uru comes out. :D

oooh, Katie and David played Siberia. They liked it. It's very pretty!

I want the Discworld games. . . although this is one case where having a mac will save me a lot of money XD

The Gabe games are made by Sierra, and there was supposed to be a fourth Gabriel Knight game, about ghosts, but now Sierra has no adventure games department :(
