Heroes update: man, it's annoying, but Peter is so hot. Quite possibly not as hot as Nathan. I think maybe it might be that Milo is hotter than Adrian but Nathan is hotter than Peter. So I miss Nathan. I kind of wish Matt had died instead? Matt and Sylar maybe? But Matt is actually interesting in this episode, a little. So far. He is being a stay-at-home dad, which is cool and cute (but apparently it's because he's afraid to leave the house, which is sad) and his wife has a. . . who the heck is looking after Matt Jr? Anyway, Janice I think has a very short haircut and she looks fab.

I like Emma a lot, and her relationship with Peter, but her power is dumb and getting dumber. (I've never actually seen Mohinder with powers before, though, that's kind of cool. He is an attractive man, god damn. I guess if he does good things it'll be worth watching but what are the odds of that.)

Aaaanyway.

I was listening to Phantom of the Opera while I took my shower, cos that's what I get to do when my roommate is in Colorado, and thinking "Man, Michael Crawford is good." Then I thought "duh." Then I was thinking about how freaking awesome it is that he was Hero in Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. That is just a hilarious part for the Phantom to play and it makes me happy.

BUT in the annals of "other characters played by musical theater actors," nothing has ever been as amazing or hilarious as the fact that Harry Groener, who played the Mayor in season 3 of Buffy (my favorite BtVS villain!), was Munkustrap in the original Broadway cast of CATS. I think, although I'm not sure, that I recognized the name. Like, I wasn't looking at a list of things he's been in. I was looking at my book about CATS (guys, we shouldn't even talk about how into that musical I was) and I saw his name and I was like "Wait, Harry Groener? That sounds familiar!" Or vice versa.

Also I was trying to find a picture of him as Munkustrap (there was totally one in my book, it has not ended up on the internet yet I guess) and I ended up at a CATS site and it had a black sparkly star background and a MIDI!! And then I went to the home page and I'd totally been there before, which has to be true of pretty much every CATS fansite on the internet. Although geocities closing down probably severely cut down those numbers.

Autocomplete Me is making me happy these days.

Evan Lysacek, what are you doing on my TV? I need to prepare myself for potential Lysacek. He can't just jump out on me unexpected. I will say this for Lysacek, though, he takes a hilarious photoshoot. (Johnny is on the right, making it work. Johnny is all about photoshoots.) The picture on the left, or one very similar, is the background on Katie's laptop, which she doesn't use often. So whenever she opens it, Evan is all "HEY WANT SOME SNOW KATIE. I HAVE SNOW FOR YOU."

I fell into mild hysteria upon realising JK Simmons was in the less-recent Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls. I also fell into mild hysteria upon realising Christopher Jackson was in HBO's Oz. I have a playlist on my iPod made up of people who were in Oz but are also on Broadway cast recordings. But that's kinda the other way round. I'm endlessly amused at Brent Spiner being in the original Broadway cast of Sunday in the Park with George though. :D

Seeing TV actors on Broadway isn't always quite as much of a "Holy Hannah!" moment as discovering that your TV actor has a secret Broadway past. . . but it is still awesome! That is epic about Brent Spiner, too! XDDD I had no idea.

When I was writing this entry I was thinking "Hmm, if anyone on my flist is going to be interested in this at all, it's Jan" XD

Yeah, I'm just a backwards person. I'm more likely to be interested in theatre, and a lot of people are more likely to be interested in TV, so they get excited when they discover a TV person they like in the theatre, and I get excited when I discover a theatre person I like on the TV. I can't tell you how ridiculously exciting I sometimes find Saturday night TV; I can sit there and point out who I've seen in plays for HOURS. :3

Like I said: backwards. :D

Backwards awesome!

I don't know what Saturday night TV is for you. . . do you think it's a UK thing that you find so many actors that you've seen in plays, or does it just speak to the vast body of shows you've seen?

Wow, I'd never seen that auto-complete site before - it's magnificent!
And you know aside from the titular song, the Phantom of the Opera is one of my least favorite musicals. It's my gf's fav though, so that probably makes up for it.

It's strange, because my all time favourite is Les Misérables, and I usually find that most people who agree also really like Phantom. I do not deny that I enjoy the most of the tracks with male vocals, but I'm really iffy about the plot and I've just never really liked Christine.

You've...probably lost respect for me now.

How could I lose respect for someone who doesn't like Christine? She is the weeniest character ever. Dude. You should never, ever be in a position to say "I gave my mind blindly." NEVER GIVE YOUR MIND BLINDLY. WHAT? Actually, never give your mind at all! Oh, Christine. She and Raoul are so dim it's almost cute, though.

I do like Les Mis though! :D But yeah, Phantom. I like the atmosphere a lot? The opera ghost thing works awesome for me and the costumes and sets are fun. And I like the songs! But yeah, if we're supposed to care about Christine and Raoul's relationship. . . not so much! In fact, I always skip "All I Ask of You".

Urk, I'm so glad you agree. I dislike Christine for many of the same reasons that I dislike Bella from Twilight. I mean, I hate that series with an ardent (and sometimes amused) passion for MANY reasons, but I'm specifying here. Both are just so...weak-sauce, and altogether too fey.

But don't get me wrong, I agree wholeheartedly that Raoul is JUST as much a twit as she is - and he's certainly fey too. I cannot take anyone with a name that rolls of the tongue so humorously as Rrrrrrraoul.

The way she's always saying "Raoul! Raoul!" and the way, after she's disappeared, he goes "Chriiistine! Where did you gooooooo?" should be annoying, but it's so funny that I think it just makes me like both of them more. At least they're a good couple!

Not really related but I just thought about it, I remember once being at a Phantom website, or maybe a CATS/Phantom combo website, and when you went to the "Links" page, it would play the part where Phantom goes "GO! GO NOW AND LEAVE MEEEEEEEE" and it really freaked me out the first time. XD

Come to think of it, I guess everyone in Phantom is super into being melodramatic. ^_^

Haha! If that'd happened to me I totally wouldn't be able to leave the site!
