::has been leaving lots of comments:: sometimes I feel annoying when I comment too much. I know I love to get comments, so I figure other people will be happy to get them too, but probably everyone else has a limit. I don't know. You tell me if I'm getting annoying.
here's something else that's been weighing on my mind. Well, not weighing. It bounces in there occasionally. I don't know what to call some of you guys. Like, a lot of you don't give out your real name, which is fine, but then there'll be a couple of other things that you go by and I don't know whether I should refer to you by your LJ user name, or another name. . . it's so confusing. And then some of you do give out your real name, and I still don't know if I should call you that or if I don't know you well enough and I should just call you by your LJ name. . . gyaah. The problems of the easily confused ;)
You can all feel free to call me Laura. The whole Laura/Guingel/Lightspeed (zatannazatarra is just a screen name, not an alias) thing will make me feel like I have multiple personalities. Cos guingel is my main online alias, and I'm different online than I am in real life (which is when I'm Laura) and then I'm Lightspeed on oekakies, and I'm very different on oekakies. . . it confuses me.
Online I'm different from in person, but I think except for one thing I'm only slightly different--how I phrase things and stuff--and all the changes that go along with the fact that I can't actually see you, that it's all typing. The big difference is that online I always act like I'm comfortable. Like, more how I act with my close friends, no matter what. Although I won't always be comfortable, sometimes I don't know what to say in an IM or something and I won't be totally relaxed with someone, but it's nothing like in real life. I'm extremely shy with strangers in real life, practically a completely different person. I clam up. I never have that problem online, even though I'm often dealing with strangers. (not you guys, you guys are my friends ;) I was newly struck today with how cool and nice you all are)
Of course, the other weird thing is my age. Definitely by looks alone, I appear to be younger than I am, if anything. Personality-wise, in person. . . well, David says I'm 5 and 30 at the same time, but he tends to bring out my extremes. With my friends i'm 16. But online age isn't so much of a problem. You can't tell someone's chronological age, it's solely mental age. I don't know. I think I'm going to stop talking before I say something dumb.
david returns today. good. katie keeps crying over nothing and I feel bad aboutit and I can't do anything for it and it's getting crazy and I wish she'd cheer up. oy.
oh, and just for fun, here's a picture of katie and david.

aren't they cute? :) This is an interesting picture cos I took it and I was also lying on the couch with them, only facing in the other direction. We do that a lot. Once we were at Emily's, and we tried to fit all 5 of us (me, Katie, David, Emily, and Perin) onto her 1 person bed. It was much fun :D We kept shifting positions. I eventually ended up on the floor with a blanket though (I was cold and I kept ending up on top).
anyway, I like this picture and the nifty angle. and you can see some of our family room.
me and Katie are working on our "Heroes of the DC Universe" puzzle. Again :D We love it and we do it every so often. It's not up to date, but that's ok.

Date: 2002-07-31 12:19 pm (UTC)Dude, it's your journal! It's supposed to contain things that happen to you, things you think about, etc, that's what it's for! *laugh*
Cute picture, and cute comic also, that was funny.
Hi Laura, nice to meet you. You can call me Rennie. It's a nickname, but it's one lots of people use in Real Life. (:

Date: 2002-07-31 03:01 pm (UTC)There are some exceptions. I know your name is Laura but when I talk about you to other folks I call you "guingel" or "Laura Guingel" because so many people I know (and talk about) are named Laura or Lauren -- so it just avoids confusion.

Date: 2002-07-31 03:22 pm (UTC)yeah, I have the same problem with you--my school is crawling with Toms (and a Thom, but it's pronounced the same way) so I usually go with "Iivejournal Tom" or something like that.
