men staring in my windows
Dec. 12th, 2008 09:36 amA New York City story, dedicated to
karanguni, who will be here next year. :D Last night was our office party, which was loads of fun, and then afterwards a bunch of the younger people went to an afterparty in. . . the West Village? something like that. Anyway, so I was taking the D train home to Brooklyn at 12:30 at night, and suddenly I sort of notice (I was a bit out of it) that my car seems to be full of MTA workers. MTA is the Metropolitan Transit Authority - they're in charge of the subways, buses, and other trains etc. So, like, a guy in an MTA vest goes past me and I'm like "hmm, unusual," and I look up to sort of see what he's up to and hey, he's joining the other 10 MTA workers that had appeared in my car out of no where. Then we stop in between stations. This isn't that weird, the R train pauses constantly. So I'm sort of just grooving to Bon Jovi (STILL) and then I notice that the MTA guys are gone. And then I look out the window of the car and I realize that the person I see is not a reflection, but rather someone standing right outside our train. Apparently the doors opened without me noticing (not hard, clearly) and all the MTA guys disembarked and were standing to the side waiting for the train to go past. As we pulled away, we slowly passed a line of MTA workers, standing staring in the window of the train. It was amazing and hilarious and me and the woman next to me shared a look and a laugh and a "holy crap!"
. . . Maybe it doesn't come across right in writing.
Oh, I just had a thought about getting a co-worker a little gift for Hanukkah. Damn, I still can't spell that. BA in religion and all.
Anyway, office holiday party last night was actually loads of fun because my office is that cool. And I'm really glad I went to the afterparty, where I also had a great time. I'm just. Out of it. XD I'm going to a training now so I'll be able to sit and listen and veg, and then later I'm going to be doing some document inventory.
Schedule of this past week and next week: Tuesday, Carlito and
ayamachi came over to watch Firefly. Wednesday, met Katie uptown and did Christmas shopping. Thursday, office party and after-party. Friday, NOTHING. Saturday, going to Corey's to watch a movie and then going home. Sunday, hanging out with Katie on Long Island. Monday, meeting Corey to go to the Strand. Tuesday, ayamachi coming over to do Christmas presents and watch Prince Caspian? Yes? Wednesday, meeting Katie downtown to do Christmas shopping (I should be pretty much done by that point but she's got a lot to do XD). Thursday, meeting old boss for dinner.
Guys how am I supposed to get in my internets with this sort of a social life? D: Gundam Wing fic is waiting for me!!
