half an hour of free time!
Nov. 14th, 2007 05:26 pmI'm meeting roommate!Corey for dinner at 6 because we haven't gotten to see each other this week - i didn't go to the Sophian and I wasn't free for our usual Wednesday lunch. And I wanted to finish the 7th page of my paper before, and I did, so now I have a free half hour. Cos I'm not going to start anything else before dinner. I've been basically working constantly. Not non-stop, I'll take little breaks and watch 15 minutes of a video or talk to twin!Katie for a bit, and I go to dinner, but those are always breaks from work, where I should really be doing something.
( work status and schedule )
So I wasn't going to post because I realized I had nothing to talk about except that, but then I realized I wanted to talk about my newfound love for Nagano Hiroshi. He was always easily my least favorite of V6. I tend not to like the ones that are just nice and cute, i find them boring - Massu in NEWS, although I am fond of Koyama, and Yasu in Kanjani8 - the ones where their whole thing is that they're cute. And I thought that was Nagano, but with the added weirdness that he does to restaurants and keeps a log. . . I can't really get behind that. So, I didn't like Nagano.
Then I found out that he was Ultraman Tiga. Not that I have any memory of Ultraman Tiga, but I, like everyone else, watched Power Rangers and a lot of cartoons growing up, so I'm familiar with the genre of cheesy after school adventure television, and I love SO MUCH that he, as a Johnny's, at the peak of V6's popularity (or so some site said), he was a part of that. DUDE.
I also was journal-surfing and found this summary of his SCP appearance, and I watched a bit of it, and it totally sealed the deal. Cos I can't get behind cute without personality, but I can get behind strong, manly men who are just quiet, patient, good guys. And also I was watching the J-Sports 2003 behind the scenes thing where they all measure themselves at different stuff - I can't really figure it out, but grip strength and back strength and certain flexibility things seemed to be a part? It doesn't make sense because sometimes Tegoshi seems stronger than Massu and Inocchi, and this was in 2003! But, uh. . . Nagano seems to be really strong. ::blushes:: And here they were talking about how he's really strong and can throw Kamisen around with ease - so for someone in Tonicen to be singled out as strong, it's sort of impressive.
But mostly, it's all about the Ultraman Tiga. I downloaded the first episode and it's just RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME. Also, the wikipedia page describes Nagano's character as "passionately naive". XD Oh god, it was so great. And. . . yeah. Just that he does it. And that V6 did the theme song. Makes me so happy.
I'm still not sure how I feel about his crazy restaurant thing, though. O.o But I definitely like him oodles more than I did before.
So, yeah. I've been getting into V6 - I really enjoy watching their dances. The height difference thing. . . But yeah, as part of my whole senpai love whatever, I've been downloading all the J-Sports and Countdowns, and stuff? J-Sports are FANTASTIC! I'm like a sports fan now. I highly recommend the 2003 one. Although the baseball stuff wasn't good - maybe if I'd understood the commentary? But they never seemed to follow through with a play so I couldn't tell what had happened. But anyway, yeah, even though I'm getting into V6, I still pretty much am totally focused on TOKIO for those segments. With little Arashi breaks, because god they're cute! They're so cute in these big events, cos they cling together in a little Arashi bundle. XD ::cuddles::
In the meantime, Katie is getting into SMAP in a huge way. XD Now, I have a healthy respect for KimuTaku's hair, and when I say "healthy respect" i mean "obsession where whenever she mentions SMAP or shows me a SMAP video, I end up talking about his hair for about 5 minutes straight." But! She's, like, watching concerts all the time now! XD I give her loads of grief about it. (I realize this paragraph may sound strange to people not Katie and I. I can't really explain why it's funny and why I get to tease her about liking SMAP.)
Anyway, I was supposed to leave for Corey's 15 minutes ago - Katie called me as I was writing this.
