::does happy fruits basket dance::
Aug. 10th, 2003 05:42 pmHello. I read a little of my summer reading today. I'm going to try to do about 40 more pages (I've done about 30 so far--25 really.) It goes quickly, which is good. I'm a little confused about some of the characters. This is Travels with my Aunt, buy Graham Greene, by the way. I like it thus far. We shall see.
I'm not taking notes, by the way. You're always supposed to take notes on summer reading, and I never do. O.o
Anyway, when I finish this--hopefully by the end of this week, latest, if not earlier (::crosses fingers::) I'll just have the Carol Gilligan and the social studies--neither of which I want to do!
Anyway. . . big news! Me and Katie are now the proud owners of Fruits Basket DVDs!! Actually only the last three, but the first one will arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. It's Sunday, right? Right. We are having such a good time re-watching them!!! EEEEEEEEE! lol. (that's what we say when we see Kisa. I love Kisa! She makes me proud to be born in the year of the Tiger. Also, Kyou is my favorite character, and a tiger is the closest thing to a cat! :D) Oh man, they are sooo good. We're watching the Japanese language track. I was excited to see what the english voices sound like, and while we were delighted at how not-girly Yuki sounds (his Japanese seiyuu is a girl, and while she does a good job, well. . . we could tell she was a girl when we first started watching, and it took a fair while for us to get used to his voice). However, to make up for manly-Yuki, Momiji-kun is totally a girl. And is possibly voiced by Biyomon from Digimon. Although actually, they all made me think of Digimon. It was strange. In any case, they sounded too American and we quickly switched back.
( Fangirl-ness! )
Yesterday was a very busy day for me. Stitches out--finally! (OK, it was only 10 days, and by the end I was forgetting there was a problem, but still!) Am wearing bottom retainer again. . . it seems to be ok, I hope! Then. . . I did some driving! :D It was easier with dad--we went slower. Just starts and stops for a little, and then I drove a bit and manouvered my way around parked cars--cos I was on an actual street! And there was no property damage! :D I went into a dead end and we did a broken U-turn! My first time in reverse! :D I was proud of me. (many ":D" in this entry--or at least this paragraph) It was cool. Mike has the Honda now, so no practice today.
After that we went to Bethpage--but as a guest, not an interpreter! It was a lot of fun to be able to go into all the houses. I saw Julia and explained that I wasn't there because I was getting my stitches out that morning--although there would have been time for me to go, but oh well! And I saw Lisa and I told her that I got some of the books she'd recommended me. :D It was great. I had a lovely time with Dad as well. And I tried on Mike's silly hat. I actually have pictures, but not of me in the hat. . . anyway, maybe I'll post them sometime soon. I'll show you guys a picture of me in costume, too.
Then me and dad went to IKEA for lunch and we bought some stuff. Nothing very interesting (nothing for me, that is ;) but lunch was excellent--my first meal since losing the stitches! I had meatballs and potatoes. Excellent!
On Thursday we're going to go visit Wesleyan. Am a little disappointed, as I was going to go to Bethpage then, but oh well. . . At least I get to see Wesleyan. My art teacher liked the school and not the students, which is a good sign because I hate my art teacher. lol. Well, from last year. There are rumors that we have the awesome teacher for next year.
In any case, I'm still going to Bethpage on Wednesday and Saturday. Mom has work Wednesday, so it'll be my first time going with out her. This means that I'm at Mike's mercy in terms of transportation. lol. Saturday too, unless Mom decidese to go.
Can't wait til next Fruits Basket DVD arrives! :D I'm going to watch them all in order!
Emily and Perin, if you ever want to come over and watch them, feel free! :D
