SQUEEEEEE!
Aug. 7th, 2003 10:02 pmWe went to the mall today! And I had an excellent time :D Me and Katie both got friviolous fun little kid stuff. Which is the best kind--it makes you feel all silly and happy. Katie finally went to Create-A-Bear! I'm ashamed to say, I was opposed to the idea. . . but in my defense, I had the wrong idea of what sort of things you did. For once, the line was really short, so we went in. And it was much fun! First we saw her stuff the bear with fluff using this machine. I was thinking dirty thoughts. . . it looked quite wrong. But I guess little kids (who are the main patrons of Create-A-Bear--you can have birthday party there!) wouldn't catch up on this. And then Katie had to jump up and down three times, and spin around twice. . . I think this may have been the employee having fun at her expense. lol. Or maybe everyone has to do this. And then she pressed these buttons on the stuffing machine for love and friendship and two other things, kindness? Happiness? And then she got a little red heart, and rubbed it against her funny bone for humor, her head for brains, her stomach for hunger, and kissed it for love (I think). The girl sewed up our bear. The next phase was the air bath. You go over to the "bathtub" and push the lever and air comes out of this nozzley thing, and you brush your bear clean. Actually, ours was a koala bear. We stopped at the clothing section :D :D :D
They had Indiana Jones hats! So of course, we had to buy one. This lead to the koala being named Harry, after Harrison Ford ;) Me and Katie, whenever we see Indiana Jones hats, want to buy ourselves one, but they're always too expensive. So I am so completely delighted that we were able to find one for our bear!
The hat lead to the rest of the accessories: khaki shorts, and. . . a little packet of food! And. . . a backpack and a sleeping bag! SOOOO CUTE! The food includes: a juice box, a marshmallow, chocolate, graham crackers, two hot dogs in buns, a little grill, a pancake turner kinda thing, a stick (for the marshmallow, I think) and a log that's on fire. XD XD XD Much with the squealing. We were totally delighted.
So we made Harry his birth certificate, and paid. It was. . .shhh. . . $47. Not bad though, when you consider the amount of stuff I go.
I made my purchases at the Disney store. If anyone's been in a Disney store lately, they may have noticed that they have this "Adventurers" line out. This includes merchandise of Tarzan, Hercules, Aladdin, and. . . Peter Pan! O_O They actually had Peter Pan and Captain Hook costumes! If they'd fit me, or if I even knew a small child, I would have been all over the Peter Pan one. Me and Perin actually noticed that they had a Tigger doll that would have fit. So I want to buy them both. Really badly.
However, not today. Today, I noticed the items above the costumes. WEAPONS! >D They had Peter's dagger, and Hook's broadsword. . . actually, I guess it's a bit thin for a broadswoard, the point is it's long and straight and not a dagger. The sword also comes with. . . a hook! The kind that you grab and cover your hand with? yeah. ::paces:: Actually, that's what I did at the store. I knew, really, that I had to buy one. Peter Pan is special--even the Disney version, plus, I have this strange pirate thing going on. It's kind of an old joke. For Halloween last year, I managed to find myself an eyepatch and a foam sword (more of a dagger, though. . . I'm going to get it) and with my brown trenchcoat--pirate costume! Especially after we painted a skull and crossbones on the plastic eyepatch with white-out. Eyepatches and glasses are not a great mix, but I didn't care XD (I just touched up the white-out on the eyepatch. He was getting a kind of unibrow because it had worn off between the eyes. He being the skull) Anyway, the point is, I like to dress up like a pirate. XD
So when I saw more foam weaponry, well, I went into a kind os state of shock. We went back later, me having decided to get one of them. The deciding was agonizing. I knew that I already had a short sword, and that the hook would come in handy. However, if I got another dagger, me and Katie could fight! Plus, I'd rather get the Peter Pan stuff than the Captain Hook stuff! However, Katie and Perin both voted on the sword, since I already had a dagger and could use a hook. So that is what I ended up with, and I'm pleased with my decision. Had a very amusing wait on line. Buying that sort of thing is always fun. Especially when you're 17! XD The sword and hook actually have a skull and crossbones on them! They match my eyepatch! lol. Anyway, while I was on line, me and Katie and Perin all picked out our prom dresses. Perin is wearing a sleeping beauty dress, and me and Katie are wearing two of the different Cinderella dresses they had (one of them, Katie's, was not in the movie, I'm pretty sure, but oh well). And Katie picked out gloves that say "Cinderella" on them, and Perin picked out slippers and a blond wig. And I picked out a crown. They also both found cloaks! Katies was creamy velvet with a hood, and Perin's was pink and blue velvet with fur. If I was a kid, I would have loved one of those. When I was little--all over it XD Unfortunately, when they tried the cloaks on, they barely reached their waists. Ah well.
In any case, Katie says she's going to make me a thigh strap for my dagger! I'll wear that on my right thigh, and then I can wear a belt and put the sword through that on my left side (so I can reach across and whisk it out). And the hook goes on the left hand. . . the eyepatch can go on either eye XD
Am so amused. lol. And so very pleased with our purchases! I love Harry! And whenever I think of my sword and hook, I start laughing. lol. Can't wait for my thigh dagger strap! I've always wanted one of those. (not kidding)
We ran into a friend from school, and it was fun talking to her. Then we stopped by Emily's briefly, to show her Harry. Perin was going over to tutor, so me and Katie just kinda ducked in. ;) And then we played Grim Fandango at David's! Many happenings: we are now in Year 3! (out of 4) Not too shabby!
edit--I forgot to mention: I saw the new Neil Gaiman/Dave McKean children's book, Wolves in the Walls at the bookstore. . . I'm only slightly ashamed to say I read the entire thing! (although I just skimmed a couple parts. I was actually standing right at the entrance and I felt conspicuous in my money-saving, bookstore-cheating activities) It was really cool, I liked it :) I was really happy to have to opportunity to read it! Very, very nifty.
Am futzing with my interests. Trying to thin it down--get rid of some of the older, somewhat less accurate interests to make room for new ones. I mean, none of them aren't accurate but I want flexibility. I plan to add "foam weaponry" and "archie kennedy". Maybe "Jamie Bamber", too. :D
