I am so good at quests. Like, finding pages or things online. There was this artist whose page I went to a loooong time ago, and I loved their work, it was how I'd like to paint and stuff, and I realized I never marked the page. And that I could remember almost nothing about the person, except that they had an extremely simple and very nice site layout. What I did remember is that I'd found their site through a forum.
However, it was not a forum I frequented--the time I foudn this site was the only time I'd gone to it. I couldn't even remember the name.
I did, however, remember where I heard about it: Kapolo Club. I didn't know what post, but I knew that someone had told an artist (either Kuren or Miri was what I was thinking) that they shouldn't be afraid of going to this forum, that they were plenty good enough (cos like, it's discriminating about the artwork you can post). I was pretty sure it was Miri. So I went to her profile and did "show all posts by miri" (they link to each thread they've posted in) and Miri has over 400 posts. I figured this was on an art post by Miri herself, so I started to work through them. (I found a picture I'd seen before and loved, by Miri's friend TurnipSue-- http://www.genesoul.net/junkpile/art/robegirl.jpg it's huge but the head is all you need to see--I'm in love with this person. lol. I think she's gorgeous.) Finally I found the post. They only gave the name of the forum (Sijun). So I did a search in google for Sijun forums. It was the first thing up and stuff, no trouble there. So i go into the forum, and I go to the "finished works" section.

Now I have a problem. I have absolutely no idea what this person's name was, I hadn't been there in a while so I didn't know where they'd posted. (a while--quite a few months) So I started working through the posts. I figured their posts would have several comments because I, at least, thought they were spectacular. I went to anything that had a decent amount and who's name sounded vaguely like a possibility (I figured it wouldn't be anything that would have stood out in my head, and I didn't think it had any numbers). I also looked at the ones where someone says "hey, everybody post any drawings you have of _____," hoping I'd recognize something. I would keep clicking on people's homepages.
No luck. There are twelve pages of posts. I guess they don't save really old stuff or something. I'm up to page 11. uh-oh. lol. I try a few things, and then at the bottom--the very last thing on the second to last page-- I see something like "goache drawing of a girl" by thickpaint. I remembered that this person used paint almost exclusively. (and pencil and ink--but not cged stuff). So I checked it out--AND THAT WAS IT!!!

wooo hoooo!!

anyway, I love their style--the way things aren't blended. And the people he draws have so much character. And I love the use of color.

It was funny cos I'd told my mom at the beginning of the quest how hopeless things were, and she was very impressed when I found it, and wanted to see the person's art. The first thign I had up on the screen was this: http://www.kresoja.com/paintings/Crayola.jpg
And my mom sees it and says, "oh, photography". And I'm like, "No, it's a painting". My mom still doesn't understand. She says "So this is their home page?" thinking that they had a photograph of their tools as their splash page or main picture. I'm like, "Mom. He painted this picture, this is a painting!" XD She was very impressed--so am I, I really like this picture. And all of them, actually. :D

So anyway, that was the story of my quest of the evening, and a link to a beautiful page of art.

oh yes, speaking of art, I'm sketching my room. I'll prolly scan it when I'm done, so far it's turning out kinda nicely (but very sketchy)

I really like this bit:

Suddenly I feel like digressing for another moment about morality. I intend to publish here for the first time what I believe to be a missing portion of the New Testament. The papyrus manuscript, translated here from the orignal Greek, was discovered in 1979 by the author at Auckland airport. He was there in transit to Sydney, Australia on the 5th november whiling away a few moments, idly looking under rocks when the manuscript was given him by a Maori chieftain and toilet attendant.
