Neil Gaiman
Jul. 25th, 2002 08:55 pmI just read Murder Mysteries and it was fantastic. And it lead to a train of thought about how Neil Gaiman has changed me. He looks at the world in such a. . . I'm not sure what word I want. Original, I think. All his writing is so creative and original and different. It's amazing. You read it, and you see this new point of view. And it broadens your mind. It opens you up to new ways of thinking. (when I say "you", I really mean me--I can only tell how it's affected me) And it changes you. I don't know. It's fantastic and wonderful and fun.
[I'm feeling particularly poetic, if you didn't notice.]
I interrupted Katie in writing an e-mail to David, I just had this thought and I knew I'd lose it, my memory being what it is, so I borrowed the computer.

Date: 2002-07-25 08:59 pm (UTC)It's very, very cool. It's a story-within-a-story. A man offers a story in exchange for cigarettes, and he tells about the first murder, in the Silver City, and how he (as God's vengeance) had to solve the crime. It's a really awesome, because it has hints of a more traditional murder mystery in there too.
