Woooo took two exams today! Go me! Just two left. I'm going to study all day tomorrow and then take Japanese history on Thursday, and then study a little bit like a big weenie on Thursday afternoon and take AMS on Friday. XP BLAAAGH American studies that i'm taking pass/fail and didn't like at all, i don't care about you!! Also, I totally did do work studying for Japanese history tonight AFTER taking two exams. I am a woman made of STEEL. But I only got up to the midterm and all the identifications are after the midterm. :( So I'll have to study the rest of it more closely. And also it involves WWII. :(

People need to not have loud conversations with their doors open. It's clearly 24 hour quiet hours. . . and it's hot and I want my door open to get a cross-breeze. Because my room is way warming than the hallway. :( That's my only goal at Smith. Keep my room the same temperature as the hallway. To want to actually keep my room cool is too much to ask for. XD Anyway. . . conversation is amusingly between three people with extremely strong personalities, so it's a little interesting.

Also, wow. Why is Firefly the best fucking thing ever? I got addicted to watching bloopers reels on youtube yesterday. . . addicted might be a bit of a strong word. But anyway, I was watching Angel bloopers and oh my god, David Boreanaz is SO CUTE. And I loff him. But that reminded me of how FUCKING AWESOME the Firefly bloopers reel and oh my god I love that show. The show was so amazing, the cast was amazing, the bond between the cast was amazing, the cast's appearance at conventions was amazing. All of it, beautiful. And it's still at 35 on Amazon's TV DVD bestsellers list which is kind of really cool SIX YEARS after it came out. And was cancelled. But, good side: when something ends early, you're allowed to idealize it. Firefly is frozen as this beautiful perfect thing with all beautiful perfect episodes and an amazing cast and shit-hot bloopers. Um. The moustaches. And Mal being in every shot oh my god best thing ever. And everything Alan says when Wash is being interrogated.

OK, so we all know that Torchwood is quite the rip off of Buffy and Angel? (Hilariously illustrated in this fic by the way) So this causes me to make a lot of comparisons between Whoverse and Whedonverse. In particular, ok, you guys know about my crushing pattern, right? Or, well, my fanfic crush pattern? Cos I'll have crushes on other actors and characters but I'll only want to read fanfic about one particular bottom. No switching positions! It's a whole thing.

In Buffy, it was Xander. In Angel it was Wesley but that never caught on quite as much - although I ADORE Alexis Denisof (especially on HIMYM!! :D :D :D) and I loff Wesley. And in Firefly it was Simon. [P.S. Am continuing entry where I left off before I went to breakfast at midnight at a local church. I love breakfast at midnight! And I love local churches when they're cute and sweet and have rainbow gay pride flags on their front lawn. And I love church basements, because even though I didn't go to church as a kid, I would occasionally go to the church events of friends and they're fun.]

Simon has got it going on because, oh, sweet Simon, because I have much more of an actual crush on him than the other two. Like, sometimes I have fanfic crushes, and sometimes I have actual attracted to people crushes, but when they meet it's the best. See also: Jamie Bamber. So yeah, Simon. ::dreamy voice:: Cos I also have a big-ass crush on Sean Maher. I love his smile. So much. And his voice! His voice isn't sexy (I love voices. See also: Christian Kane.) but it's so sweet and soft and pretty, and fits him so well. And I love his body oh my god I love his body. You know in fics there's the tendency to occasionally have one of the characters be seen as the most attractive thing ever to walk the face of the earth? Like, even on a cosmic scale - like if you have Angel being all "In my hundreds of years on earth, this is the most perfect body I've ever seen" and I'm like "Uhhhhh." But for Sean Maher, I'd believe it. His body is beautiful. I don't even like men's bodies that much but his proportions are. . . OK, so, like, I'm a figure skating fan, right? But I don't skate myself, don't really know much about figure skating. I can tell bad from good but it's hard for me to tell good from really good. So sometimes when I know that a team (cos I like pairs skating) is incredibly, amazingly good, I'll become a fan of theirs just because I like watching them and knowing that they're being really good. it's a relief - I don't have to think about what's good or bad in their performances, I can just relax and know that its' good. Sean Maher's body is like that. It's not like "I'm attracted to this or that". It's like "ROMAN STATUE." "ANATOMY TEXTBOOK." It's gorgeous. And he wears vests all the time. His face itself is actually slightly cartoony looking? Attractive, cute, but the only real blows-me-away feature is the smile. (P.S. I was looking for pictures of him and this is hilarious!!)

OK! That got no where near my point but at least now it's recorded how much I love Sean Maher. And his body? I mean, he also seems like a total sweetie. Cos all of the Firefly cast seem sweet. Which I attribute to Nathan Fillion who is AMAZING and like, I dunno. It seems like he's really good-natured and likely to be responsible for keeping up the atmosphere on set? But anyway, I think in a commentary or something, Joss said of Sean (after saying he's pretty ^_^) that Simon is sort of thrown in with the more rough and tumble crew of Serenity, and he thinks Sean is kind of the same way, that he was suddenly surrounded by buffoons but then he grew used to the atmosphere and the joking and started to like everyone? Or something like that. Anyway, it's a really cute mental image and he seems so sweet and shy.

Also! Shit, I was going to compare stuff to Torchwood. But I also wanted to say that I like that. . . like, with shows that you love, those actors are always going to be those characters for you, right? So David Boreanaz is always Angel. But he doesn't want to always be Angel, he wants to move on. Because I watched the Angel DVDs the other day (haha I totally didn't, it's finals, but I could have!) but it's been five years since he filmed Angel. But for the Firefly cast, it feels like their characters and their Firefly experience is still important to them? That when they say "I really feel like I'm friends with this cast," maybe they are still phoning each other up and hanging out together and stuff. It's like when John Barrowman tells the host on a talk show that he has a friend he can hook them up with, I really believe that after the show is over he's going to set the host up on a blind date or something. Anyway. It kind of feels like they're in the fan community too, or something.

But back to Simon and Ianto. I don't have a good point to make here, actually. First off, I was going to say they're a bit similar and they're both my fanfic crushes. And they both look utterly gorgeous in vests (waistcoats) and they're a bit more formal than the other characters, more quiet and refined. And they both have lovely voices, although Ianto's is more conventionally appealing. And of course, has beautiful Welsh accent. And Ianto has a lovely pouty mouth and also a slightly cartoonish face! And! They're both getting laid by men who wear suspenders (braces). I actually keep saying Mal when I mean Jack and Jack when I mean Mal. HMMMM. Those two are quite similar as well. Leaders who make jokes a lot but have a not-so-secret dark side and are super manly and Big Action Heroes and wear vests. And are played by charismatic, charming leading men. Mal has tighter pants but Jack fills out the suspenders more. And I genuinely think Mal is better acted (much as I adore John Barrowman) but Jack genuinely is doing Ianto. Yes, those are comparable qualities.

Anyway, my point is that they're similar. One might say suspiciously so, but I say. . . well, I wish I was saying something witty, but what I'm going to say is that it's cool because this way, double the awesome. And because they're so similar, I keep comparing them in various ways. And my conclusion is that I really want Mal and Simon to have flirted on screen for reals. Wow, I'm sorry I made you read all that, hinting that I was going to get at something eventually. That's all I had. XD I think about Simon and how like Ianto he is and how much more voluminous Ianto fic is and how much I enjoy seeing Jack and Ianto flirt and smooch on screen, and I come to the conclusion that I would have liked the sexual tension between Mal and Simon to be more pronounced. XD They don't even have to be in a relationship like Jack and Ianto! Just one comment like "Looks good in a suit." That's all I ask for. Even though it's clearly too late. >.>

That was. . . really pointless. XD But yeah, that's what I've been doing with my time when I'm not enthusing about rabbinic literature. XD I seriously am proud of the content of my website. And of how I did today! I didn't know which tractate something came from which pisses me off because I memorized SO MANY tractates. Like Qiddushin, and Hullin - HULLIN! It's non-meat sacrifice, or something. And Berakhot. I was all over it. But the frikkin Bavli, I didn't look at what tractate things were from. OK, I got sidetracked. My point is that with my free time I've been reading Ianto fic and playing Grow Games. (You can google search and find solutions, by the way. I love playing them but I need the solutions and I don't care!)

It feels good to be out of JE fandom (I'm only slightly out of it - out of the fandom community mostly but even then not completely). Really relaxed. The latest batch of secrets made me feel even better. I love being in a sci-fi fandom! And not having to be so immersed, as well. Like, I don't need to get information or anything like that from people - just by its nature it's going to have less stupidity because there's no need to share rumors or anything like that. Just reading the fanfic. Which, yay, is waaaay more naughty because the fanbase is older! And it's not RPS! And there's a sci-fi fantasy element so I even got to read a sex pollen fic! So yeah, lately I've just been going to [livejournal.com profile] tokio_suki, [livejournal.com profile] tokioteatime (where I've been sending everyone lately to go and download the 1999 concert because it's BEAUTIFUL) and occasionally [livejournal.com profile] onlyarashifiles. I'm getting caught up on arashi a bit today. They're busy little munchkins and so are their fans.

Holy shit, huge discount on The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus 16-Ton Megaset!

Tomorrow, studying. But that's it. So maybe I'll do laundry. None of my good luck shirts are clean so I had to wear a dirty t-shirt today. :( Except I've been saying I'll do laundry for the past whatever and a half.

By the way, the reason my entries are so long is that i just sit and write whatever's in my head. XD There's usually a lot going on in there. A lot of Sean Maher.

I know, I know, I've been using this icon EVERYWHERE but I love it!! Guys, Superman is a dick.

Also, oh, I should not that my intention with my previous entry was not to make anyone paranoid and I honestly thought there wouldn't be that much response because I thought the people to whom it did not apply would know it wasn't them and move on and the people to whom it did apply I thought weren't reading. XD So, yeah, sorry if I spread insecurity or anything, I feel bad!

Yeeeeeeeeees!! Firefly is the TV series that went before the movie. And when it was cancelled in its prime by Fox which is EVIL the movie was like the consolation prize. :;sigh:: Not that it isn't good. But the show is even better!!

But yeah, that'd be why they look familiar. XD
