Someone chalked "Bad Wolf" on the wall by one of the walkways. I was FLIPPING OUT when I noticed it. XD I love Smith!!

Also, last night I went to an event where faculty members read us bedtime stories. One of the deans is named Tom Riddell. . . and he read us the first chapter of Harry Potter. IT WAS AWESOME and slightly trippy. He's the first year class dean, so on one of our first days here, four years ago, he introduced us by saying "I am not Tom Riddle and this is not Hogwarts!" I'm just sayin', though, we're totally divided into Houses.

On the subject of Doctor Who references that make me way more pumped than they possibly should, I was watching Coupling the other day, and one of the characters, Steve, had this whole monologue about how men find cushions pointless. I'll admit I don't think I've ever seen a guy use a cushion, except my grandpa who sits on them, but I use them all the time. Anyway. They tell him cushions provide padding, and he's saying sitting on a sofa isn't a situation where you need padding, saying, ". . .this is a sofa. It is designed by clever scientists in such a way as to shield the unprotected user from the risk of skin abrasions, serious head trauma, and, of course... [drops behind sofa, then sticks head out] Daleks."

I'd watched the episode loads of times before and never had any clue what he was saying, so when I watched it again I was so excited! "AHHHH! DALEKS! AWESOME!!" XD And this was before the new series started, so we know that Steven Moffat is just a big Doctor Who geek.

I can show you the very scary statue in the art museum ... and then you'll watch "Blink" and find out why it was scary.

Apparently someone recently chalked "Don't Blink" on the fountain by the Science Quad, which only reminds me of how terrified I was of statues immediately after watching that episode. Boston, by the way, is full of statues. :P

I WATCHED BLINK. I'M NOT LOOKING AT ANY STATUES EVER. NO ART MUSEUMS.

Oh god, you're talking about that huge one in the stairwell, aren't you?

The statue in the art museum I'm thinking of is actually of a hawk. When the security cameras stop working it's going to kill me in the middle of the night.

Also, can we have a Doctor Who night before graduation? We can watch New Who, Old Who ("City of Death" was co-written by Douglas Adams. I also liked "Genesis of the Daleks" though it's long, with six half-hour episodes) and my very favorite episode so far from season four is "Planet of the Ood," which first aired last week (and not very heavy on the continuity, which is just that the Doctor and Rose have met the Ood before, and now the Doctor is roaming with Donna, who is awesome and also not in love with him).

So, what do you think? Can we? Maybe next weekend?

I'm game! Steph requests that we watch season 4, which I'm fine with - I always watch stuff out of sequence.

I love that monologue in Coupling. Actually, I pretty much love all of Steve's rants, but I particularly enjoyed that one (and the one about why women need so many pairs of shoes). I don't remember if I caught the Dalek reference or not (probably not, since I watched it years ago), but that makes it extra-awesome.

Although his monologues were always funny and well done, I tend not to like the "I speak for an entire gender" thing. This one in particular, because it's so obvious that people do use cushions all the time, I tend to get ticked off. XD And, like, I only have five pairs of shoes and stuff like that. I definitely enjoyed the monologue a lot more after noticing the Doctor Who reference.

I have...possibly less than five pairs of shoes, so I didn't think much of the accuracy of his ranting (although I must admit that that one at least is true of a whole lot of women), but I find the ridiculous spazzing amusing anyway. There is at least some truth to it, even if it's very much based on stereotypes. (And Doctor Who references always get extra brownie points.)

That's true, I love when Steve gets worked up and totally unwound. Although the Dick Darlington moment is probably my favorite instance of that!

We had "Vote Saxon" posters up at work around the time of the end of season three of 'Doctor Who'. Most people didn't get it, but it was worth it for the handful of kids who totally freaked out. :D

Oh my god, that is so sinister. XD And awesome. I really love that sort of public inside joke. Hell, I get excited whenever I see an André has a posse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/André_the_Giant_Has_a_Posse) sticker and that doesn't even have anything to do with Doctor Who.

I keep hearing of all these inside Doctor Who jokes. Maybe I should start watching it. :3

You should! It's oodles of fun. Except for Blink which is oodles of me wetting myself in fear, but hey, you love that sort of thing! :D If you want I can point you towards it via email?

I must admit, I'm particularly in love with it because of the wealth of enjoyable slash fic, though! XD
