Monkey Island
Jun. 26th, 2002 03:04 pmMy Nine Hour Films shirt is here!! yay! :D In time for me to take it to NH! I got a medium, so it's big enough for me to sleep in or wear over my bathing suit, but I can still wear it with shorts and have them show ;) It rocks. I think Katie just got out of the shower, I'm going to have to go and show her.
hmm. she's still doing stuff in the bathroom. Speaking of which, I'm going to have to brush my hair soon.
Graduation today! It's at 5, but we're leaving a bit early.
cooooool.
Yesterday afternoon David came over with a Fish Called Wanda, and we watched that. it was very good :D Michael Palin was so cute! And we felt so bad for him! ;) Ah well.
Then we went to his house to play the Curse of Monkey Island. Or possibly the Secret of Monkey Island. The first one, whichever that is. We ate dinner there, and it was fun and exciting. lol. Interesting family ;) After we finished the game we had ice cream and then chilled. Much fun. They have an adorable little dog named Watson, and he came in the car with us on the way home. fluffy. (the dog, not the car)
I've finished The Fifth Elephant and am almost done with Cat's Cradle (by Kurt Vonnegut). Which I'd started reading before. I'm going to have to see if mom can get a couple of books from the library to take to NH. She already has some new Terry Pratchetts, which is good. And I'm going to have to bring some books of my own to reread (actually, maybe I'll take the Hero and the Crown, by Robin McKinley, which I'd never finished) so that I can take them down to the lake and what-not, and not have to worry about getting them messed up. Oh, and me and Katie need to get Beowulf and Grendel, summer reading, to bring with us. I'll have to make up a list for mom to take to the library.
Maybe I'll bring the Jamie-book too, so I can pretend I'm going to get started on the social studies summer reading. oops. I've checked my journal and it looks like I haven't explained. I'm sure I've mentioned Jamie, twin of Aron, member of Academons, and in my health class? I got his AP US Hist textbook! :D So I've been calling it the Jamie-book.
And of course, I'll need to bring some comic books :D Emily has at least read Life Story of the Flash, cos she says she loves it. Smart child :D
ok. I think that's it.

Date: 2002-06-26 07:00 pm (UTC)"if you want to go chronologically, you should start with Guards, Guards! but if you don't mind, the Fifth Elephant is good. So are Maskerade and Carpe Jugulum. (Maskerade comes first) There's like, stories about the watch (the city policemen, basically), and stories about these witches, and then there are some random stories that don't involve either. Guards, Guards! and the Fifth Elephant are about the Watch, and the other two are about the witches. all are very good."
the ones about the Watch are my absolute favorites. I adore Vimes.
Actually, I just remembered that I started with the Hogfather, which was very good, but prolly not one of my absolute favorites.
