fic oh my god Taichi! And me studiously not whining.

So, I wrote fic. Real fic, this time, with a plot and characterization, that I'm going to actually link here because I actually want my friends to read it! Those of you who don't like TOKIO (::glares::) are excused. Let me know what you think? Comments will make me feel shiny and happy! (Yes. I'm choosing to forsake my dignity in this situation. :D)

Five Times TOKIO Protects Kokubun Taichi

I confidently declare it to be one of the best English-language, Taichi-centric TOKIO fics out there. Perhaps even in the top five. XD Well, actually, I'm mostly impressed that I finished it. It's just sort of normal, but hopefully it's cute and amusing! You guys don't get more summary than that because I'm expecting you to at least click on the link out of your love for me. ::beams::

Although, and this is something twin!Katie and I discuss a lot - TOKIO don't really protect Taichi so much as throw him off bridges and blow him up and let him get the sniffles. (Which, I belatedly realized, would have been an adorable section - someone snuggling him so he didn't get too cold. But I like what I ended up with, so I guess it's OK.) So we think they're forfeiting their Taichi privileges and that we should confiscate him. If I had a Taichi, I would take super-good care of him!

I've been sick and sort of sad lately, but I think I'm on the mend and last night I talked to my dad and he was incredibly sweet and helpful (I talked to my mom and she was sweet but not helpful - I knew as I called her that she wasn't the parent for the situation. When I'm upset, sometimes I need a specific one of my parents different approaches to solving problems) and he gave me perspective and support and love and I cried a lot (and dripped snot on the glittens katie made me. :( Whoops. It's hard walking in the rain, talking on a cell phone, crying, while having a cold so i'm already a little more fluid-filled than usual) and felt a lot better afterwards.

Also for Japanese history class she assigns us a lot of little tiny biography thingies, and we read one about this family where they managed to raise 14 children to adulthood and send them all to college. It was really sweet and I got quite sentimental about it as I read it at breakfast yesterday morning. It reminded me a lot of Cheaper by the Dozen, which is one of my favorite books. But yeah, it was a lot of the parents working together and they just seemed like a really good family, somehow. Although the boys all grew up weird. XD Oh well.

Lots of work coming up over the next two weeks. D: Two midterms and two papers. But I'm totally going to be healthy and I'll get lots done this weekend. Well, ok, one of the papers is due on Tuesday, so I will really have to get that done. And I have to start research for the other one, even though it's only 3-5 pages. And I have to start studying for my first midterm. ::whimper:: It's not more than I can do, but it's more than I can motivate myself to do.

Discussed Birth of a Nation and the director, D. W. Griffith, in my American Pop Culture class. Two words: Crazy. Sauce. Also, geez. I'd only heard "It's a really racist movie." I DID NOT REALIZE THE HEROES WERE THE KLAN! "Really" doesn't quite cover it! I would like about 14 more reallys added to that sentence!

OK, yeah. That's about it, because all I've been doing the last couple days is moping and being sick. XD I did watch How I Met Your Mother with friend!Steph, it was excellent. And the two of us are planning to go to a pub (bar? pub? what is it, Monkey?) in town tomorrow night, by which point I am confident that I will be healthy enough to drink alcohol again and I will order cider which I have been missing since I left England and it's prodigious supply of Strongbow.

I have to admit, I picked up crazysauce from Dinosaur Comics. Which has actually had far too great an impact on the way I talk. >.> (See here (http://www.qwantz.com/archive/000537.html), here (http://www.qwantz.com/archive/000687.html), and here (http://www.qwantz.com/archive/000439.html) - you have to hover your mouse for the alt-text to get the full effect, too. XD)

Anyway, friend away! Flattery is incredibly effective in this sort of situation. XD And I'm happy to have more TOKIO (and nerd joke) fans on my friends list!

Ahaha, I always wondered where those dinosaur things came from. I thought I was about to go to sleep, but now I'm going to be helplessly browsing through those archives. I've been using the term awesome sauce for some time now, but I think I like crazy sauce and burnsauce a lot more. Especially burnsauce. XD

Yay, new friend! <3

DINOSAUR COMICS IS AWESOME!! XD I'm always happy to spread it around. It seriously cracks me up, and yes, reading them will steal your life. There's 1000+ comics, and I've read through the archive multiple times. It's terrible. I actually made a small comment with recs of some of my favorites for [livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf a while ago, it's here (http://darkeyedwolf.livejournal.com/245448.html?thread=11865544). :D

And a few others, copied from an entry I made a while ago:
One of my faves (http://www.qwantz.com/archive/000136.html).
For this one (http://www.qwantz.com/archive/000604.html), the alt-text (hover your mouse and don't look at it in Firefox) made me laugh til I cried.
SO FUNNY (http://www.qwantz.com/archive/000467.html). Seriously.
A Smith-appropriate one (http://www.qwantz.com/archive/000514.html). (Smith being my ultra-liberal all-women's college.)

OK. ::coughcough:: I'll stop now. XD And go read all the comics I just linked to. >.>

I love how awesome you are at pimping things. XD I think Ryan North is one of my new heroes now. <33
jfajksgdsbhfaj and the alt-text is always so wonderful! I CAN'T STOP READING THEM. It's all your fault. XD

Haha! Pimping is like my weird talent that's been lying in wait my whole life. The "a href" tag is my best friend! ;)

I kind of have a huge crush on Ryan North. XD He's over 6 foot tall, has strawberry blond hair, and is Canadian! And is, of course, absolutely brilliant!

[identity profile] ayamachi.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Why are Canadians always extremely awesome? XD

I think it has something to do with being in the frozen North. Makes you hardy, or something. XD
