Haha. . . why is it that I'm only able to write stuff at 3 AM? Maybe I should wait, I want to do justice to my good news, but I'm impatient.

I'll start with the little stuff--my boss tells my dad that I might be making some power point presentations for him over the summer, so I started practicing with Keynote (the mac program that I'll be using) and I'm kind of getting stuff. It's fun! Hopefully i'll do a good job.

I now have a tape of Taye Diggs on Ellen, and of Robert Plant performing on Conan O'Brien!! We were watching Ellen on Wednesday or something, and they advertised the Friday show, so we were all excited, but I had no idea about Robert Plant, and it's the opening section and we're looking at the guest's names and there it is!! So exciting! :D I love him. Of course, at this point his not so much of a sex god anymore, but totally adorable, and the song was great. I'm going to have to listen again, though, I was kind of distracted the first time around. ;)

Today Katie's friend David from Brandeis came over, he lives on Long Island as well. We chilled for a bit, but it was a really nice day and we wanted to do something outside, so we drove over to Bethpage (Old Bethpage Restoration Village, where I've volunteered in the past--I've mentioned it before). We go in, and unfortunately I don't know the person working the counter, which makes things slightly awkward. I have to go up and say, you know, "Hey, I volunteer here. . ." and she doesn't say anything, so I have to say "Do I get some sort of discount or anything?" Even though I know I, and at least one guest, get in for free. Argh. But then she says that it closes in an hour and so we can't go in. Which is policy. But it was more than an hour (I mean, it was an hour and ten minutes, but still!!) and I'd already told her I worked there, so it's not like I haven't been there before and need to visit all the buildings and all that crap. I was just really pissed. Stupid woman. We just walked away from her. But it was such a nice day! And we really wanted to do something outside! So we went onto the fairgrounds behind the village. Not open to the public, but certainly not closed off! And through them we snuck onto the farm and said hello to George and Sophie, the pigs, who have four new tiny piglets! So cute!! Then we snuck back out through the fairgrounds. I felt all badass. ;) It was fun. And it was truly a lovely day. I haven't been to the village in a long time. I wish she'd let us in for real--we didn't have stickers so we couldn't really go into any of the buildings--especially where the people wouldn't have known me. But it was nice to be able to walk around--OBVR is soo beautiful. And it was nice to visit the piggies.

Friend Carly might be visiting from Georgia around my birthday! Very exciting news. She'd stay with Friend Courtney in New Jersey and meet me in the city. :D Yay! And hopefully I'll be able to see Courtney sometime before that. I'm really happy, cos I thought I wasn't going to see Carly all summer.

Next weekend, I'm going camping with my mom and her girl scout troop. I'm really looking forward to it--I haven't gone camping in several years--far too long. :D Plus, I'll take Friday off, which means that my first week of work will be an abbreviated one--always a good thing.

So, yeah. I start work on Monday. I'm not looking forward to getting up early. Oh well.

The news that I'm most excited and happy and relieved about is that my religion papers arrived today!! In the Paul class, I got an A on the paper and an A- for the course! :D In the Bible class, I got a B++ (?) on the paper and an A for the course! I didn't tell you guys about this, but on Wednesday I got an email from my professor saying that I got an A on my paper and recommending that I submit it for a religion competition next spring. But it was a form email, so I didn't know which paper it was. And I expected it was the paper for the Paul class, on the letter to the Thessalonians and how it indicates that there would have been Gentile opposition to the Christian converts, and why they would have been so riled up. Because I thought that was the superior paper. And it was! Which is good.

Anyway, I'm just so happy and relieved. :D Yay!! And I did well in both courses! In fact, the A in the intro to bible course is my first A in a college course! Very, very exciting. :) Sooo happy.

A little bad news, Houdini the dwarf hamster seems to be attacking Roberts (short for Dread Pirate Roberts) the dwarf hamster. :(

But good news, we have dwarf hamsters for the summer! Oh, they're so cute!! When they aren't being mean. But really, oh my god. They're so tiny and so round and have such cute little faces!

*clapping hands prudly* Well done on the grades for your papers! You should enter them into the competition if you haven't already. Also good luck with starting work. Hope it is not too daunting.

Dwarf hamsters are indeed mean and tiny. My sister no longer gets dwarf ones as they bite too much and so are less likely to be handled... That and hers got eaten by her greyhound, d'oh!

We are stickin to the siberian variety as they are more handle-able.

BTW she no longer has that greyhound as it had FAR too many issues, so all hamsters are safe. The lercher she has now is a sweetheart and wouldnt harm a fly.

excellent! :D I'm glad she got in despite my complete lack of help. XD But, yes--very exciting. Everyone should go to Smith, it rocks. I will probably see her around (if she decides to go?). Send her my congratulations!

hello friend!

ps - this is carly :)

hiya! i'm here! (i've been here before, but now i'm back - in the spirit of summer & such) you probably found it already, since i sent you the link on iChat (& it's on her facebook profile), but you should check out courtney's lj (snortney08) - she's silly & fun, & you can find interesting things like "what kind of lesbian are you?" quizzes. ;) also, if you're interested, my xanga is www.xanga.com/smithie680 - nothing against lj, except for the fact that xanga is better. ;) anyway, i think i'm done now - oh, but i still need to hear the story about the boy scout troop you met camping. oh, and i'm still working on plans for visiting people this summer - it may end up being in august instead, but i'll try to get up to nyc around your birthday. i'm excited! :D

ha! LJ is far superior to xanga. You should give it a try :)

The boy scout story may not come until the weekend. I'm a bad correspondent to begin with, and these days I'm just slagged when I get back from work. However, if I find myself at work with nothing to do, I might work on it there. I feel silly making you wait, cos it's just a little cute story--and it's kind of like a Mitch Hedberg joke where he remarks on his mumbling and says that often his friends can't hear him when he talks, and keep having to ask him to repeat himself, over and over again, "But really it was just some insignificant shit that I said, so now I'm shouting, 'That tree is far away!'" Ahhh, Mitchy. :)

But anyway, boy scouts will come soon!

I'm so excited to see you, too!! Any time is awesome--but of course, the sooner the better!

You got an iPod?? Awesome!! And you're using it to listen to Led Zeppelin--I'm so proud. :) (as you can guess, I stopped by your xanga. . . I'll give you credit for the album art, but that's it!!)
