schoolwork rambling/whining/babbling about thessalonica
::sigh:: I have to write about other textual evidence (in addition to the disputed word "thlipsis") pointing to intense, physical (but not systematic) persecution of the Thessalonian Christians. . . I think to show how strongly anti-Christian the gentiles would have been, I'm not sure. I'm sleepy. I'm going to tie this into my thesis (which is that the thessalonians would have persecuted the christians in part because they undermined imperial authority by opposing the imperial cults, thereby threatening thessalonica's favored status with Rome) tomorrow. I may have gotten sucked into proving that there was persecution because it's so disputed. And it is important for my thesis that there is persecution. The two are kind of self-supporting. Like, the text points to persecution, and we can see a motive b/c of the imperial cult thing (and a lot of other reasons, but that's the one I'm focusing on) so it makes sense.
I dunno. I think I'm going to have to stop writing for the night. As I was saying, I have to write about textual evidence, and I have to write about whether the text points to gentiles or jews as the persecutors (both) and then I have to write a conclusion. And then I'm done.
With this paper.
I was hoping to finish it tonight, but I am almost done. I've got, like, 3 paragraphs left, and then editing. Tomorrow I will have to get it done for sure. And do costume sketches. And start my research. ::whimpers:: Maybe I should try and write more now! Or maybe I should do my reading for class. I mean, I've got all the different forms of textual evidence written out, so that paragraph won't take too long. So I'll do it tomorrow.
I really want to go and see an acapella performance from 9-11, though. Argh!! Maybe if I get enough done beforehand. I only have class from 10:30 to 2:30 (with an hour for lunch in the middle) so that leaves me plenty of time to work. I can take my research outside, too--I got sunscreen today! SPF 30. Oh, and I need to pick up two more books that have arrived for me at the library. This time I think I'm going to have to make at least two trips when returning my books. Usually I just tough it out.
Oh man, Katie sent me some new Clapton CDs, and then I rediscovered my other Clapton, and he's just so awesome. Just One Night is an amazing CD and everyone should get it. And listen to "Cocaine" over and over again. XD Unplugged is also great. And. . . you know, they're all good. The Cream of Clapton is an awesome CD. Cream, Clapton, Derek and the Dominos, even one Blind Faith song! (Presence of the Lord)
He's so sexy. Lalalala. Even my dad admitted that he was good-looking! :D
Uhm, yeah. gonna go read 1, 2, and 3 John. They're really short. Yay John!
bleeeeh!!
oh! webcomic about libraries! Really funny! Especially if you're a geek and/or the child of a librarian (or a librarian). http://www.overduemedia.com
I love that name! XD The comic itself is called Unshelved. Very silly

random movie quote...
Work that fat until it's gone!
Re: random movie quote...
Actually, I just had a dream that I did really well on it and my professor complimented me. That was kind of cool. But I'm kind of an anti-prophet, so if I dreamed I did well, I'll probably have done really badly! :( Oh well. I'll find out soon enough. . .

Anyway, at the very least I'll ask around about people getting waitlisted, see what her odds are.

In the meantime, I have interacted with almost no one today, so no movement on the waitlisting front. But I thought about it! >.>
p.s. I love your guybrush/elaine icon!

Yes, wombat combat is originally from quizbowl. but then it became part of a small series of icons from photos of Katie's art on the music office blackboard (like Elk Attack! and Pygmy Hippos for Congressmen). And I have a photo icon of wombat combat as well, which was not easy because all wombats do is eat and sleep and cuddle. (and apparently hippos are really ill-tempered, but I don't think that necessarily makes our campaign a bad idea!)

Anyway, I'm just getting a lot of really specific knowledge. About Thessalonica. XD That'll be useful! Still, it's kinda interesting. I've begun to research John the Baptist and other Jewish immersion rites, so soon I'll be able to babble incoherently about that, too!
How're things with you? When do you get off school? Any summer plans?
