finally, an update! lots of good things happening, too :)

First and foremost--the twinsies were born!! (previously mentioned here) I haven't written about this, I think, but around Christmas my cousin, Michelle (the one who just had the twins) had to go into the hospital because she, I think, kept going into labor. And she's been in the hospital, not able to get out of bed or do anything, since then, taking medication and just generally trying to keep the babies from being born for as long as possible. It's been pretty unpleasant, but not hugely serious--I mean, there were a couple bad moments where we thought there was something wrong with one of the twins, but it's mostly just been trying to keep them in the womb for as long as possible.

But finally, yesterday, they scheduled a delivery, and the babies were born! And everyone is alive and well. More of less. One of the babies is 4 pounds, 1 ounce. One of them is 2 pounds, 11 ounces. Which is pretty damn small, but she should be ok. (Did I mentione that they're both girls? :D :D :D) By the way, Katie and I were huge for twins. Katie was large for a baby, really. She was 9 pounds. I was 7.5 pounds. My poor mother! But she didn't have to spend a month and a half in the hospital, and she knew we were healthy, so I'm sure she was glad with the way things turned out, especially compared to Michelle.

But now the babies are born! And are ok! And I'm so excited!

In other news. . . Yay!!! Present from [livejournal.com profile] cloudtrader arrived today!! So excited--it's so swanky. ::bounces:: A quill pen, and sparkly gold ink, and a sparkly gold notebook! Oooooh, so pretty. I goggle. So, since she gave them to me so I could write in a physical journal, I thought I'd, er. . . update my virtual one.

I've discovered that I have a passion for conversation hearts that can only be described as dangerous to my stomach and my teeth. It takes me two days to eat a bag. And I'm left craving more. ::sigh::

It was a good week for me for gifts. Early in the week, I got presents from home. Candy for valentine's day (the second of my two sacks of conversation hearts, as well as an assortment of minty chocolatey things) and. . . a special director's edition boxed set "bootleg cut" DVD thingie of Almost Famous. ::swoons:: (the "bootleg" longer version is called "Untitled") I just absolutely adore that movie, and now I own it--finally--and I have so much more of it! I've been. . . just, so excited. So many special features! ::squeals unashamedly::

So many good things happening. Except for my conversation heart-related doom.

Corey has gotten me completely addicted to the West Wing. It's a fantastic show (I'm already a crazy Aaron Sorkin fan and am upset about what John Wells has done. XD Even though I've only actually seen episodes from season 1. Hopefully Season 2 will arrive before I finish the first season. ;) It rocks. Eeee! The writing is great, and oh my god, I am in love with every single one of the characters. Except for Mandy, and all the assholes. But you know who I mean. Charlie! Josh, CJ, Leo, the President. . . Abbey! Who's played by Stockard Channing! Toby. . . who I've fallen absolutely in love with! Toby has to be my favorite character. Eeee, Toby! And Donna! Hells yeah! Oh, and Mendoza, who's played by Jamie Bamber's dad in Battlestar Galactica. XD And Mrs. Landingham!

Excitement abounds.

Classes are going well. I got an A on the second German dictation, woo! Which I studied for, even though I was feeling really sick and sleep deprived. (Tuesday night I just slept really horribly)

I am becoming an expert on Paul. XD Sometimes the Christians in my classes annoy me, because they try too hard to reconcile what Paul says with modern church doctrine, which is completely not the point of either of my classes, we're supposed to be looking at the texts in the context of the time in which they were written.

Oh, and I've joined Smith's fledgling, as yet unchartered Quizbowl team! Yay!! I'm very excited. Even though we had a practice yesterday and we were using hard questions and I didn't know anything--it was just like old times. XD

Even though I don't know you but congrats on the twins! I can definitely relate to your cousin's pains. My aunt suffered for a month and had to use meds and such to keep the babies from being born two months too early. When the docs said it was time, out came the chickens (yes, they really did look like chicks then). I was worried because my mom always had to fly out to support my aunt and help her to get through it. The boy weighed around 4 lbs or so and the girl weighed 3 lbs or so. Both of them had trouble breathing for a couple days, the girl stayed for another week. Classic premies. They were SO small that during the brit for the boy, the rabbi put both of them in the same seat carrier!

Now those kids are so beautiful and smart... and so lovable! And will be 10 in August!!!! Have fun and really cherish those moments, they grow up before you know it... *sniffs*

I love newborns

They are so cute and delicate. they just show how precious life really is.
Say congratulations to your cousin :-)

Well done on the grades in class. You especially deserve it if you studied for it :-)
