yay, a happy academons week!
Feb. 14th, 2004 02:13 amhahahaha!!! I love not having drivers ed anymore XD I watched John Edwards on Leno, and I watched Conan. I also watched Diane Keaton, but since me and Katie have decided to make government class more interesting by developing crushes on John Edwards, and calling him hot constantly, that was the real highlight. I was also watching some of the special features on the Singin' in the Rain special edition DVD I have. This hour and a half long thing about Arthur Freed and the musicals he produced, entitled "Musicals Great Musicals" (haha, MGM, yes?).
So, a very good time was had. Lovely. I really enjoy staying up late.
And, now I have an entire week off! And 3 take home tests to do! lol. They're not that bad though. Multiple choice and all. Third marking period--no writing assignments. That's unusual, this is the crunch time in previous years. But we already did our research papers! Whooooo! So I'm really happy.
Excellent academons meeting, too! First, we visited Crappy Advisor. And Crap said the meeting was cancelled. But didn't even bother to see if Awesome Advisor would hold it. Which she had said we would. But since he was just telling people to leave, we realized we wouldn't be able to tell people that there would be a meeting. So Katie was really, really upset, and I was quite sad also. :( Very bad. But then, we found out that she was going to hold it--that several people were heading over there! WOOO! Except. . . we didn't have questions. So Awesome went to Crap to get questions--and he wouldn't give them to her! He said he'd cancelled the meeting! ::growls:: So we went up to the computer lab and found questions on the internet, and it was loads of fun. They were good questions, too. We were doing really well--and even sometimes calling out the answers before she finished. Or started.
I was most impressed with myself with one particular question.
She said "Into the valley of Death rode the six hundred". And I said "Tennyson!" So she said, "Well, you've got the answer to the second question right, now what's the first question?" And I said "Charge of the Light Brigade". And that was the first question :D (the third was what war was he talking about, and Katie got that it was the Crimean. But she had to actually read that question XD)
And the most amusing question was one where she gave us clues to three authors, and we had to name the authors, and then what they had in common. The first one, she said a Russian playwright, and me and Katie yelled "Chekov!" Then, in a stroke of genius, Katie said "Spock!" Which was right--the advisor was getting kind of annoyed that we weren't letting her finish any XD So then we started yelling out names of Star Trek characters. Me and Katie may have been the only ones who watched the original season. But we were stupid, and eventually she had to read the clue: The author of Ivanhoe. At which,
stukinwondrland was very chagrined, because apparently she'd just discussed this with her dad, but couldn't remember. And I was thinking "who are we forgetting! Oh my god! it's got to be the engineer! I love him. . . why am I blanking out his name???" But then I remembered, and said "Scott!" (cos I knew the author was Sir Walter Scott, now, and not Sir Walter Scottie). :D Yay!!! And that was the last question.
by the way, my journal is the only thing that comes up when you do a search for academons trivia in google. XD academons on its own will get you some other things. Including the blog of an academons junior (i think junior--actually, might be a sophomore) that I need to figure out the identity of. Someone who tried out for the middle show but did not get called back. I don't really need to figure out their identity. I just want to.
Anyway, we also just had a really good time. It was a congenial crowd. Only 6 of us stayed, and we were just yelling out answers, obviously. We were also eating conversation hearts, and giving appropriate ones to appropriate people. I think I proposed to Kristen, and Adam asked me to be his Pen Pal. XD In other words, hilarity ensued.
We didn't do anything today (the fri. night crew, that is). And Perin can't do anything tomorrow and then is leaving for PA til Wed (when we're doing out math take-home test). So we didn't get to show them Pippi :( Ack! The tapes are dying out. And they're sooooo much fun, they need to be shared. Anyone interested? :D
