Hello. I had a good day today--probably because I was awake for a larger portion of it than I am usually, and I even got a little work done! Not as much as I'd like, but I do still have a couple hours left before I'm too tired to work. Knackered, as it were. >.> Not that I use slang that I've just picked up. That would be pretentious and silly. Which I never am. Of course. :D

edit: I have divided this entry into little subject headings. also, tell me if this entry is too long and I should cut it

bathing
Anyway. I actually took a bath for the first time in ages! This is a very big deal. I think I've taken a total of three or possibly 4 baths since I began to take showers. So I indulged myself and used a great deal of bubble bath. It was loads of fun and very relaxing, although the heat and lack of my glasses did get to me at the end. That's one of the annoying things about glasses. Also, one of the screws on mine keeps coming undone, which means that the left lens is prone to falling out. This is not only worrying because it can be broken, but also quite startling when you first put on the glasses. I thought there was something desperately wrong with my eyes. That didn't happen today, though. :)

Happy New Year to everyone, by the way. May you have much luck, love and happiness in 2004. It's going to be a big year for me. . . if I can manage to survive this last half-year of high school without completely giving up on school work.

Tuesday night--Bethpage and after
Last night at Bethpage was Tuesday. Now my Sundays are free until March. And, after the 21st of January, I will be forever free from drivers ed! AWESOME! No more Joel! Way too rocking. Of course, I'll still have the road test to get past--I'm waiting for some months in the future for that one.

Anyway, Tuesday I was in Kirby with Allison. . . although we mainly took turns taking breaks! XD Well, we were together for a while at the beginning--we made up nerd jokes and nerd pick-up lines together. She started it: "I want to be your derivative, so I can be tangent to all your curves" (that wasn't actually directed at me, sadly ;). Definitely going on my list of nerd jokes. We were coming up with personal ads. . . I wish I could remember more of them. We messed with the silly quark names a lot. I'll ask her sometime, if she's ever actually online and not away and idle. And of course, there's always sub-atomic particles. "Electron looking for a proton, so our opposites can attract". She had some good math ones, too. It was great fun.
And Katie and David came to visit. . . several times, because the candle on their little lantern kept going out. XD And at the end of the evening, we went to the bonfire to roast the marshmallows Allison had brought. But, we were short of time, so one of the kids pulled this huge branch off a tree, still with all the little branches on it, so we ended up putting about 8 marshmallows onto that, and he just sort of dangled it over the fire XD So funny. I ended up having 2 and a half s'mores! Very, very yummy. . . and not something you get to eat so often during winter.

Then we went inside, where Henry, who is our supervisor (not quite the boss, that'd be Jim, I think. . . or Geri, maybe) and also often the Mayor (he comes down and works in Layton General Store when there's a shortage of workers, but usually he's in the office that's in Layton's storage room. (it's a cool place. There's actually a third story over half of the second, but all the walls are gone and everything. . . it's very neat). . . Uhm. I'm lost. Oh yeah, Henry. Anyway, he's a really cool, nice, and funny guy, and on special occasions at the village--Thanksgiving, Halloween, and the Night Openings (actually, not sure about Thanksgiving) he does these magic lantern shows, which are done using actual 19th century slides and slide projector, and since Tuesday was the last night, he did a special one for the employees (and Katie and David) after the night was over. It was so funny! I thoroughly enjoyed it--and was very glad of the opportunity to see a magic lantern show, as I'd heard about how excellent they are.

Katie, David, and I then proceeded to go to The Diner, true children of Long Island that we are. ;) I was in costume. I figured, it's the last day, this is the last time for a while that I'll have a good excuse to go out in public in my costume. Great fun. Actually, someone who I don't want to see was there, but luckily he didn't notice us (someone who's gone off to college. I used to be friends with him, but now I find him kind of annoying).

Family is home from grandpa's. With cousin and his (pretty) girlfriend. and apple cake. yay!

Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time
Mike has borrowed a playstation or an X-box or something, and has apparently bought himself a copy of Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time. Yay! We used to have the old games on the computer, and I used to love watching Mike and my cousins play it. :D So the new version is like a return to my childhood. lol. It's not as cute, and rather more complicated, but much more pretty! I'm very excited. And proud, that it won first place at the Penny Arcade We're Right Awards. It doesn't really prove anything, but I'm taking it as a compliment to my taste in games, even though I did like Diablo I more than II--of course, I might enjoy watching Diablo II more. . . it's just too hard for me to play. (now that cousin is here, he's playing Prince of Persia. . . totally like my childhood) Anyway, it's cute when there's something that's the same--like, when you have to set something off to open a gate, or the way he hangs by his hands and then drops. . . me and Katie saw a screencap of the spikes that you might land in on the box when we were at a used game store at the mall, and we were all squealing. Uh, yeah, over the spikes XD I must say, though, he looks kind of like a wimp when he runs on walls. Of course, the warrior in Diablo has surprisingly small and dainty feet. Actually, I just turned around and Jim had died (that's my cousin) and the way he looks when he dies is vaguely reminscent of the earlier ones too, if I remember correctly.

There was one where you started out on an island, and you had to jump on some little sand piles in the right order--I never really played the game, but I did get rather good at that part! And enjoyed it, I might add.

Shopping--Borders and Build-a-Bear
I mentioned Borders in my last entry. . . I ended up making guilty pleasure purchases. I have a weakness for alliteration, by the way, even in small doses. Anyway, I did feel guilty about them for a little, but I've gotten over it. I bought myself Terry Pratchett's The Truth. One of my favorites and one which mom and I managed to miss when ordering Discworld's through the library. I was willing to pay the three extra dollars to get it now. :D I also got Girl in the Box, a Books of Magic trade paperback. yay! One of my favorites. Poor Leah, I love Leah. I love Molly, too though. And Tim, even when he's a moron. Also a guilty pleasure purchase because they do actually have it at the library where my mom works. Still. I wanted it. :D And I want to be able to find Bindings, the first tpb of the series proper, and an absolutely amazing story. The very first Vertigo comic that I read! Great Gary Amaro art. I like Gary Amaro. Me and Katie also got together to buy a Dilbert, for which Katie owes me two dollars. But we owe Mike eight dollars, so. . . (he paid for our trip to the diner)

After Borders we proceeded to the mall. Build-a-Bear makes air force uniforms, and we couldn't resist the opportunity to allow little Harry to be a member of a Stargate Team. :D Yay!!

OK. I'll shut up now.

I have a disgusting amount of schoolwork to do.

I wish I could take a bath, but my tubs aren't good for bathing anymore. And ever since someone told me a bath was just sitting in a tub of your own filth, it lost almost all of its appeal. I'm going to take a bath after the prom (with Brian I hope ^.~) because as a present a while back, Mike gave me this apple-scented bubble bath stuff that I'd love to use. And because it would be taking a bath with Brian.

I can't wait to go to the Build a Bear place! I'm really excited, because I'm going to end up with 2: I think the one that I build will be either me, or just something fun, and the second one Brian is going to build as a version of himself so I can take him to college with me.

I have a disgusting amount of schoolwork to do.
Sadly, we all do. And I'm dreading when I start it; it's going to depress me to no end. That's why I'm going to be taking a lot of breaks. It'll help alleviate the pressure.

I got Mark Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for Christmas, and of course, I'm the one who has ended up playing it the most. Um. Anyway, I, too, loved to watch it being played when I was a lot younger. I'd sit and watch Mark play it for hours and hours. heh.

I don't have a bath, only a (teny tiny) shower. I miss taking baths. I think I've only taken one since I moved out of my dad's house, and that was the one I took at my sisty's house when I was house and dog-sitting for her. *sigh*

Don't worry, your entry isn't too long. ^_^

I don't care whose filth I'm sitting in, as long as it's warm and filled with bubble bath. :D I mean, obviously it's not efficient for being clean, but unless you're truly wretchedly dirty it won't really hinder your bath enjoyment.

awww, that's so cute! :D We love our Indiana Jones Action Bear--they're great!

uuuuugh. . . I think I lost the assignment sheet for my annoying sketchbook of doom. >.< Dammit!!!

:) Prince of Persia is such a great game. To watch, at the very least. Although my brother had a friend over yesterday and he was not enjoying it when it wasn't his turn. . . and he was whining. Very annoying.

awww--I've never liked those little square showers. We just have the bathtub with a showerhead, so I'm always used to having plenty of room. And room for baths! Very important ;) (although I forgot to give the tub a cleaning when I got out--I couldn't really see and it was very, very warm in there)

oh, good. :) There are a couple people who, uh, used to be on my friends list, who tend to post really, really long entries and not cut them and I found it kind of annoying. I did break this one down so you could go through and only read the interesting bits!

A bath always seems like so much work/effort/time.
And then, when you finally do take one (to relax or whatever) you end up wondering why you don't take them more often...

(Actually, I do have a good reason... I can't wash my hair in a bath, so I end up having to take a shower afterwards anyway to wash my hair!)

Um, yes, well, randomness!

yeah, I definitely had to shower to rinse off afterwards, I don't think I'd have been able to wash my hair in the bath if I'd wanted to.

I know exactly why I don't take them more often--because before I take a bath, I'd have to clean the tub out (and after, too). And I'm just way too lazy for that! But in this particular case, I snuck in right after my mom had cleaned the entire bathroom, so I saved myself the trouble. :)
