I just had gum surgery! But now I'm talking to Zahra, who is quite possibly the world's most awesome person, so it's all good. :D
But yeah. I went to the dentist this morning, and he told me I'd need to get a crown. . . but first, I'd need to get a post put in. . . because it turns out a fair amount of tooth came out also (they showed me a picture with this little camera thing. . . it looks nasty). And. . . before they put the post in, I'd need surgery to cut back the gum, because there wasn't enough tooth for them to work with. And that's what I got today (I went back later and got it done).
Yes, they cut out part of my gum. Isn't that icky? I'm just glad it's over. I'm actually in my "post-dental work euphoria" state. lol. I've no idea where this comes from. Happy to have it over with? Is it the drugs? The fact that they always tell me I've been a good patient? Because I feel heroic? I don't know. XD In any case, the numbness is starting to wear off, so we'll see how I feel later tonight!
There are also a lot of things I need to remember to take care of this properly. And I can't wear my retainer on the bottom at least until I get the stitches removed next Saturday! I need to eat soft food (me and dad just got yogurt and pudding!), not chew on that side, I have medications to take many times a day (one that's 4 times a day! and one twice a day). After eating I need to Q-tip that area with peroxide, because I can't brush it. There's a kind of silly-putty band-aid on it, which is going to fall out at some point, but I should try to keep it in as long as possible. I've never had stitches before! I'm very worried about doing something wrong and messing this up. So complicated! O_O
I shouldn't complain about the surgery though, because I'm fine. I figure the problems that I have with my teeth (the cavities, the repeated drillings because I lose fillings, the braces, the root canals, the 14 pullings, and now this) are nature's way of balancing out my incredible luck in other areas XD And I'd much rather get a 5 on my history APs and have tooth problems. It's a silly theory, but there it is.
You see the subject of this entry? I kept getting confused during the procedure. He'd tell me to turn my head left and I'd turn it the wrong way! I felt silly. There was some discomfort, from having my tongue at the back of my throat and having my mouth open so wide, but i got to listen to headphones! Which was new for me. He asked me if I wanted headphones, and I was all confused. "Headphones? huh? For music?" I don't know the radio, so I just kind of guessed a station--I ended up listening to something that was like, elevator music meets the thirties. lol. It was cute though. Also, the hygenist turned out to be the aunt of a friend of mine, Susan. :D I love Susan, it was really nifty. She asked me where I go to school and then asked me if I knew her. It was wild!
I don't know what it is, but dentists are always telling me what a good patient I am. I have had a lot of practice, I'm afraid. I inherited my mom's weak teeth, and, well, I have a sweet tooth DX So even though I do brush and try to take good care of my teeth, I got my first cavity at a fairly young age. But even then, if I remember correctly, the dentist said I did well. I got my check-up this morning, and I have no cavities! I haven't had new cavities in a while, just three of those. lol. So hopefully I've begun to do something right! Anyway, I have a very small mouth and that makes things difficult for them, I'm sure--small teeth, too. . . so I try to make it as easy as possible otherwise ;) I also don't want to get yelled at! lol. ::shrug::
Me and Katie watched Digibaby Boom yesterday! Best episode ever!!. We enjoyed it immensely! Digimon is an excellent show! :D I love all the characters. So much! Well, I say all. I mean Izzy and Joe and TK and Matt, and I'm fond of Mimi and Sora (in season 1!!!), and I love Gomamon! And Tentomon, and Patamon, and Gabumon. Palmon is ok, but Togemon is so frikkin' awful. . . Palmon and Biyomon are the gender-bending Digimon! Togemon is not a woman, I don't care what you say. And Garudamon's gotta be a man--he has no shirt on! So XP As you can tell, I just don't like the Kamiyas. I mean, Tai and Augumon are ok. . . but the whole leader thing is just a pain in the ass, because I like the others so much better! OK, Matt it's less affection and more lust, but Izzy and Joe and TK--I love them!!! And Kari I just hate. AUGH!
Dad got me the latest Hellblazer. mmmm, John Constantine. I need to start at the beginning, though! And the latest Batgirl Collection is out! YAY!!! :D :D :D With the actual good artist (and author). Also, latest Batman and Catwoman. . . very strange that they come out the same week because each has been ignoring the events of the other. In Batman, Batman has just told Selina who he is and that he loves her and all stuff is going on there. In Catwoman, I feel that the Slam situation isn't really resolved (but I haven't read the latest ones yet). I loooove Slam, by the way! Poor Slam! He rocks :D I'm very fond of Holly, too. But I think I like Karon even more, although she appears less. I'm worried about them--Holly because if she's going to become a sidekick--ack! Both cool and extremely dangerous: makes her very vulnerable to being killed off. But really, I think they've killed off enough people in that comic. And worried for Karon because it's rough having a significant other in the crime-fighting business! Catwoman is a great comic, I'm very fond of the new title :D
Oh, and my Strangers in Paradise t-shirt came today! Just before we left for the gum stuff. Actually, not quite--I woke up from my nap just before (and had something to eat) so I got it just before I left, even though it'd come earlier. Katchoo is a red-head, but ok. . . lol. I really wanted another SiP shirt--I'm actually wearing my other SiP shirt today. I love that shirt, and i'm always wearing it. . . I really needed two. And I like to have white shirts in summer. They're cool and they don't attract insects like red and yellow shirts.
