Geography!
Sep. 30th, 2009 08:09 pmWe probably shouldn't talk about how much I like the song "Disco Inferno," right? XD My brother used to hum it every time someone used the Inferno spell in Diablo, back when we just had one computer and everyone gathered round it to watch people playing games when our cousins visited. Um, it was way more fun than it sounds. Also it's an awesome song. Burn baby burn!
In other news, I can now identify all 195 flags of sovereign nations in about 7 minutes. For real, no guessing! I finally memorized the differences between Guinea and Mali's flags, and Senegal's and Cameroon's. Chad and Romania have the same flag, as do Monaco and Indonesia - I can't do anything about that! I think Malawi, the Seychelles, and Macedonia are my favorites. Turkmenistan and Belarus are also cool. I have a hard time with the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Lithuania for some reason, they always take me a second. Some of my favorite countries!
This is the culmination of a long and supremely entertaining process that began with learning all the names of the countries (sorry, St Lucia), then learning the flags of Europe, Africa, and Asia separately, then starting on the World one for more of a challenge while i learned Oceania and the Americas.
Now all I need to do is put myself in situations where flag recognition will be useful.
For now, I shall watch more Heroes/read more incredibly satisfying Heroes fanfic til my laundry is done. (Probably the fanfic, as gross things are happening to beautiful, sexy Isaac Mendez in the episode I'm up to. D: Oh, Isaac. So pretty! Even in this cast, he's a stand-out.)
