It's a strange and mixed day for my family. Good news/bad news time. And they contrast so strangely. Luckily for me, the good news is mine. The bad news, which is probably bigger, is my brother's. I'm dilly-dallying about the telling because I'm not sure how to put these two into succession. I don't know which to tell first.

Bad news, I guess. We just found out that my brother failed out of college (if any of you reading this are know-in-person people, don't spread this around. I don't want to embarass him). It's not like it's a huge surprise--I think they had been warning him. But he was really happy where he was, and now he's going to be going to a community college and living at home. ::sigh:: So it's going to be an adjustment for all of us. It's really too bad. :(

Good news: I got my SAT scores back! and I did even better than I had hoped. I'd even say much better! (For those of you unfamiliar with SATs, there's a verbal section and a math section, each graded out of 800. So a 1600 is a top score.) In math, I got a 720. In verbal, I got an 800! O_O 800!!! That makes a 1520 total! :D :D :D I was hoping to get above a 1400!! And I went to the Smith and Wellesley websites, and their averages are around 1250-1350. :) So I'm happy, cos that increases my chances of getting in! :) I'm so happy!

But then, of course, I get brought down. . . it's a very strange feeling. As I said before. But I am really, really happy with my SAT scores. Do I take it again next fall and try to get a higher math score? I've no idea. I'll see when the time comes.
Isn't the news about me and my brother strange? The thing is, Mike is actually at least moderately smart--smarter than everything he does shows! He's just lazy and makes poor decisions. ::sigh::

In other news, I had my preliminary "screening" interview for a job at Jones Beach. It'd be full time, and I was really looking for part time, but it pays 7.50 an hour and I'll take what I can get. We'll see what happens with the parks (where I also put in an application) and what that pay is. And we'll see where I'm actually offered a job!

I also borrowed Seven Brides for Seven Brothers from my friend's mom. I watched it last night (staying up far too late) and I loved it! It gets silly and wild in places, but it's so much fun. I watched a couple bits of it this morning when we got back, and I was still cracking up! I'm going to watch it with Katie and David as soon as I can! They've gone into the City to see a show today, so next time they're free. At some point tomorrow we're going to my cousin's house for a birthday party (or graduation party? I'm not sure) for him. I mean, it's really my aunt and uncle's house. (and it's really an apartment, if we're going to be that accurate.)

Last night we got home around 7 and I went to sleep til 9. . . then I got up and read about horror movies XD It's my hobby--I'm too much of a wuss to go see them, but I find the plots (of the good ones) fascinating, so I read about them. I've discovered http://www.filmsite.org to be perfect for my new hobby! In the past few days I've read about Night of the Hunter, which I hadn't even heard of but was so cool! (and David had just seen it up at school, so we were talking about it yesterday) Also Psycho, the Shining, and the Birds. I'm going to finish up Alfred Hitchcock stuff. I've seen Rebecca but I think I might read it to see what they say about it. I also want to read about Rear Window and Vertigo because those star Jimmy Stewart and I want to know if there's a possibility that I'll be able to watch them. There are a lot of really good things about that site--like, they refer to the characters by the character name, not the actors name; and they give these interesting analysises (is that even a word?) and talk about symbolism and all that. This site now means there's something for me to do online, so instead of just checking my things and getting off, i've been spending mroe time on the computer. ::shrug::
Anyway, after I finished reading about the Birds I was feeling a little edgy, so I decided I'd start Seven Brides. . . only I ended up watching the whole thing and going to bed at around 2. Whoops. Not really a great idea when you have an 8:30 interview the next day and are waking up at 7 XD So when we got home I slept from about 11 to 3. :) And when I got up, my SAT scores were waiting!

We saw Emily's prom dress last night. It's very pretty!! She just needs to adjust it. Katie is actually going to the prom as well XD Which is too funny because she didn't even think she was going to go to her prom! But she was invited. . . it's complicated. Anyway, they're going to go shoe-shopping together. I love that phrase. Sh-sh-sh-sh. lol. Mike's cell phone keeps ringning and he's gone to the grocery store.

ok. that's all I can think of to share with you guys. We have Monday off for memorial day. Good and bad--3 day weekend! wooo! But it means I have to wait to find out how other people did. Of course, the extra day off is more than worth it!
