guingel: (happy/warm/content)
hmm. I think my dad's home but I don't see him. ah, no. . . it's a car full of Mike's friends. O.o
wait. I think there's still an extra car in the driveway. I'm losing it. Oh. . . no. . . ok. Mike had taken out a car. That's one. Dad had taken a car. That's two. Mom got picked up by aunt. One remains. Mike has dropped off a car. That puts us back up at 2. OK. (wait. now second car has just pulled away. i guess that's the one full of friends) (soz. I'm just confused)

Anyway. My review at [livejournal.com profile] ljreview is done already! that was very fast! I got a 47/50 and she was really, really nice! Major warm fuzzies. :D It's here if you want to read it. I feel relieved. I worry that my journal is boring :)

So that made me really happy today. I was also happy because we watched Big Bird in Japan :D Such a good movie! lol. And I haven't watched it in a long time. I love Big Bird, but she tells him "stay right here. Do not run off anywhere!" and the moment he sees something interesting (a pair of monks, I think) he gets up and follows them. >.< lol.
We also watched this Charlie Brown thing about America. First it had them as Pilgrims, then the kids were helping out at the Congressional Convention, and then they witnessed the Wright Brother's first flight, and then, for whatever reason, they went into space. It was very cool, but I don't know why these kids were sent to a space station. (it could have been a dream sequence)
And then, after Big Bilic n Japan (this is all on one long, very old tape) was this show we used to love, "Long Ago and Far Away." It's hosted by James Earl Jones and they show a variety of different stories. All animated, but very different styles of animation. First was this "Abel's Island" thing, which was about a mouse who got stranded on an island for a year. Abel was voiced by Tim Curry! It was wild! That had a soft sort of animation. The next episode on the tape were these three Hungarian Folktales. The style of animation was very interesting. Flat, with fine lines and kind of darker, muted colors. The stories were interesting. One of them was similar to the story of Psyche and Eros (and also Rumpelstiltskin--sp?). It was cool.
After that was Wind in the Willows, which I have yet to watch. :D

Seeing the "Long Ago and Far Away" reminded me of a couple of other stories they've had, claymation style, I think. They were very, very cool, and that's all I can remember about them, but the fact that I remember them after 10 years should say something. They weren't on that tape, unfortunately, but I'm hoping I'll be able to find at least one of them. Unless memory fails and they're the same thing. . . I think one was more Japanese and one was more medieval.

No word on the job front.

Yesterday I sat in front of the computer all day. ugh. Something I'm going to have to do my best to avoid. Although it will make me very ready for school when it becomes time. I took a nap at around 5 PM, and I'd also slept late. So, when I got off the computer at 12:20 to try to go to sleep early (my dad's been worrying about my sleeping habits), I ended up lying awake in bed for 2 hours. Eventually I got bored and hungry and came downstairs. I got some string cheese and read some more Smoke and Mirrors ("The Price" is amazing, and I loved "Chivalry"!!). Then I thought, "OK, I'll just pop onto the computer and check my mail and read a bit of sluggy." Well, I ended up doing dozens of things on livejournal, and futzing around, and I got distracted, and I eventually got onto AIM. As some of you know, I didn't get back to sleep until 4:30. Well, that's when I got off the computer. I don't think I got to sleep til 5. Oy. I woke up at around 10:30 today, and I haven't taken any naps, so hopefully I'll be luckier tonight. I really want to get my sleeping habits on track.

Today, [livejournal.com profile] tiggspanther taught me the secrets of Power Rangers. It was a big eye-opener for me :D

7:44 addition My aunt and uncle stopped by, and I talked to my Uncle Richard for a while. He's a psychiatrist (sp?) and he's very nice and I like talking with him. It's cool. Just thought I'd share that. It's interesting cos I'm usually pretty shy with adults.

we have no food in the house.
