Accomplishments, I guess
Apr. 6th, 2006 03:16 pmSo, I came back from work feeling all proud of myself and productive and then no one was around for me to tell about it. Really. Mom and Dad's phones are off, no one is answering the home phone, Katie isn't picking up her cell, Corey is napping, I think, and Steph is in class! :(
So I figured I should post before the feeling dissipated.
OK, first off, I was super-productive at work! I figured out my top three choices of housing at the university of manchester and am almost done with my housing form! and then right after work, I went to the registrars? the something office in college hall, room 6 for any smithies, I'm blanking out on what office it is, but in any case, I put in my transcript request there, because I'm so on top of things ;)
And I also did my reaction posting while at work, so now the only thing I have to do for the week is copy over Claire's physics notes from Monday.
And I did all this even though the student bank was super-busy, and I was all by myself! The person who's supposed to work with me at this time, she's very nice and I like her, but has totally flaked off the past two weeks. I'm not sure what's up. Which is normally ok, cos normally we get 1, maybe 2 transactions an hour. But today--12!! We've actually been keeping a chart of when people come so we know how to distribute labor, and the next highest number of people who came in one hour is 5. Then 12! Ridiculous. Luckily a bunch of them just wanted to pick up blank forms, not actually do anything. And they didn't come all at once, which happens sometimes.
So, that was exciting.
And I also feel good because I did well on my midterms! Former Child Star Justin Cammy did not give me a grade for the whole midterm, but I got an A on the identifications, and a B+ on both essays.
Suleiman played a mean trick on us. He told us yesterday that he was very sorry, but he didn't have all our exams graded (Neither did FCSJC, but luckily he'd done mine and he gave back the ones he'd finished), and he said he'd email people if they got below a C, because Friday is the last day to take a class pass/fail. So I've been nervously checking my email, and I checked it when I got back to work, and there was an email from him! And the subject was "midterm exam"!! I literally cried out loud, even though I was alone in the bank. A little "ah!"
But then, it turned out he just emailed us to tell us that our grades were posted on Blackboard. >.<
So I checked--and I got a 91.5!! :D That's a high A-. Yaaaaaaay!!! I'm so excited! I've been so nervous!
My heart was beating so fast after that. lol.
Also! The University of Manchester wants to know, on my housing form, in two short lines, "In connection with your application for housing, please list any special interests (social, cultural, sporting, religious, etc.) and mention any special achievements". What? I have no idea what to write for that. It's a really short space. Any ideas what they want, anyone?
And now I'm going to take a shower.
Oh! Other good things: yesterday was room draw, and Monkey and Borscht got the exact, and awesome, rooms they wanted!! YAAAAY! I'm so happy for them. And I proxied for Sarge and she said she was really happy with the room I got her. ^_^
I feel sad I'm not going to be here next year. But I am really excited about Manchester. :)
ahh! I almost forgot to mention--I also finally managed to put up my calendar yesterday! And I watched Stanley Kubrik's Lolita. Very good movie. Very long.

Hey, do you have any idea what sort of "special interests or achievements" they might want on a housing form? Is that some sort of strange British thing?

Date: 2006-04-08 12:37 pm (UTC)No idea. They want that on a housing form of all things? I have not got a clue as to what that...
...well, I guess some interests might affect housing. Like "Late Night Party Animal" might translate to "needs a ground-floor room" or sommat. Apart from that, still no clue.

Date: 2006-04-09 09:14 am (UTC)Special interests on forms are normally asking for extra-curricular activities, achievements would be from that catergory, so things achieved outside of normal study hours.
It is an odd question though.
